If you make a promise to God and forget it, is that a mortal sin?

Lately I’ve promised to do some things and then forgot to do them until after it was usually too late. Was this still a mortal sin? It was things like thanking God for certain things and then forgetting to say thanks.
 
An example would be, I said I would never even talk about anything, even when talking about another person’s point of view (like athiest’s views on God), and then accidentally saying it.
 
Don’t make promises. Instead, say, “I would like to try to…”

There was a man who made a vow to God in your bible.

How did the story end?

His daughter was sacrificed.

So, depends on God’s mood at the time I suppose. 🤷

It would be best not to make promises that you are not sure you can keep. The important thing is to work hard each day in pleasing God the very best way you can. If you know something would not please God, don’t do it. Think first before acting.

No…if one forgets something…and it is too late…it would not be a mortal sin …it is missing at least two of the three aspects (not to say the other is there either) needed for mortal sin.

For any mortal sin one needs grave matter…full knowledge and complete consent…

but you need to Go talk with your confessor/pastor about these promises…he will guide you in what to do next and …in the various questions you have …and do not make these promises…
