Was out running errands yesterday, and I caught some of Father Corapi. He said if you pray for strength, the answer to that prayer is trials because those build strength. If you pray for humility, the answer to that prayer is humiliation. So far, so good. But…
At the beginning of the Rosary, one offers three Ave’s. One each for faith and hope (and I can pretty much guess what kinda trouble I’m asking for there
), and the last one for love (or is it “charity”? or as the book I just got on Aquinas puts it: “Amor Dei”?)
So, when I ask for an increase in “love,” just what kinda trouble am I begging for? My preliminary guess is that it ties in somehow with the Sorrowful Mysteries; i.e. once I know how to love when that sort of thing happens to me, then I’ve mastered love.
Opinions/insights?
