If you were not Catholic, what religion would you choose to be?

From my viewpoint as a Catholic, I would want to be either a catechumen preparing for baptism (present times, western world where the Faith is taught) or jewish (before Christ) or whatever but really good (anywhere the Faith I didn’t have access to the Faith so I couldn’t convert) and live out natural law.

But knowing me, I could also have turned into a little devil. I tend to be extreme, whatever I do. Therefore I also feel drawn to all those traditional religions with a lot of discipline.

Definitely Orthodox.

Judaism might have been more “true” in times since past, but the Orthodox have the Eucharist and valid confession.

In descending order:

Staying Christian:
  1. Orthodox
  2. Lutheran or Methodist.
  3. Mennonite or Quaker.
Staying Theist:
  1. Conservative Jew
  2. Orthodox Jew
Staying Religious:
  1. Zen Buddhist / Deist.

I’m assuming that Eastern Orthodoxy still exists in this hypothetical formula?

In this case, I’d be Orthodox.

Assuming Christianity didn’t exist at all, then I’d be Jewish.

Well, I’m not “Catholic” but I am a “Christian”. I’m quite shocked that so many of you would go to a religion that doesn’t believe in Christ before even thinking about all the Protestant ones that ALL believe in Christ…or do most of you think Christianity=Catholicism? Either way it shows a very narrow and therefore less informed way of thinking. Food for thought is all I’m saying. I believe that any doctrine is acceptable that follows and embraces love and honor of our Creator and to live a life modeled by Jesus for us. Jesus said God is within us all…perhaps all the “various” ceremonies and dictates of many religions are more importantly seen as ways to keep us focused on God. Of course many will be offended because these “rules” are so important within the religion. I do apologize my intent is not to offend. I know most on this planet pray with Christ or Mohammed or Mary mentioned as the intermediary between us and God. Jesus taught us how to pray and He prayed to God.
