Maybe there is a misjudgment that results from your misunderstanding of how racism plays in Indonesia. I let you judge if I have prejudice against muslim baby sitters.
Most families in Indonesia low-middle class to upper class have at least one live-in maid and sometimes if they have big house, there can be 2, 3, 4, 5 live-in maids. For families with small children, it’s very common to see live-in baby sitters. It’s also common to have full time driver. Their salaries are very affordable, around $50-$60 for the maids, $100-$120/month for baby sitters, and $200 for the drivers. All room and board paid. 99% of these maids, baby-sitters, and drivers are muslims.
I myself used to hire some live-in muslim baby sitters to take care of my babies. Right now, I have a full time muslim driver and 2 live-in muslim maids; one is for cleaning everything and the other one is for taking care of the needs of my children. I certainly can take one of these maids to go to the mass with me for my own convenience because sometimes during the mass, my children ask for going to the bathroom, …but I don’t, because I like these maids to rest on Sunday whenever possible. All of my employees are muslims and I give facility for them to do their daily prayers in one of the office rooms. I also give annual vacation for these muslim workers during their big islamic holiday.
Indonesia has more than 200 million muslims and in my youth, I used to have muslim girlfriend. And until today, if I am not married yet, I will certainly be attracted to some muslim girls. I study islam and I know how to recite many of the quran verses. I have excellent relationship with some muslim families and I also have a lot of good muslim friends in my workplace.
I am a parent and I used to have babies with live-in muslim baby sitters who took care of my babies day and night. I always managed to go to church without bringing my baby sitters, saving the seats for other catholics who needed them, whether they come early or late. In the US, there are so many families too who don’t have live-in baby sitters and they can manage to go to church with their babies. It’s just a matter of pure convenience for some lazy ignorant parents that these muslim baby-sitters are ordered to take the seats which otherwise be available for those who come early or late.
