For me it’s been saying the Holy Rosary, because it helps me focus on the faith throughout the day, and it’s something I can take with me everywhere.

Lectio Divina, done in writing. It helps me slow down and really focus on what God may have to say to me in the Scriptures.

I agree! Nothing has given me as much insight into the bible and the life of Christ as saying the Rosary. Saying the Rosary lead me to meditating on both the stations of the cross and the seven sorrows of Mary which I try and do everyday from 3pm-4pm.

It really is amazing!

While the rosary is a lovely devotion, and at one time, when I was first reconciled to the Church it was a mainstay for me, I’ve found the Divine Office more spiritually beneficial. It’s Scripture, it varies from day to day, from season to season, it celebrates the solemnities, feasts and memorials of the Church, and it is the Church official daily liturgical prayer. With my strong scriptural background I find it satisfying/edifying. I’ve taken to praying St. Louis Marie de Montfort’s “The Little Crown of the Blessed Virgin Mary” for my Marian devotion, which takes a bit less time to pray than a 5 decade rosary and is just as inspirational for me. 🙂

Writing in prayer and study.

I write out my Lectio Divina meditations as it helps me quiet myself, slow down, and focus on what God has to say to me in the Scriptures.

Also, in my spiritual studies I lightly underline while I read but my studies really come home when, after finishing each chapter, I summarize them in writing using a notebook I keep just for this purpose. It really helps my comprehension and memory. I’ll often add some written reflection at the end of my summaries when a topic has especially spoken to me.

My first “burst” of spiritual grown as a young child was watching my grandmother live out her Catholic Faith. She was an amazing woman who made bandages and hospital gowns for places with no such things.

She prayed the rosary, went to Church faithfully, visited the sick, etc but most of all she had an unwavering trust in our Lord.

Later my faith was “grown” by praying the Rosary, the Divine Chaplet, and Bible study as sell as attending daily Mass.

What an excellent question. Thanks for getting this thread started.

Mary.

Ive been a Christian my whole life and have been attending mass for a few years, I’m now halfway through Rcia and I have to say studying the gospel reading each week leading up to mass on Sunday has led to more spiritual growth for me in the last few months than in years of reading the bible ever did. I don’t know if it’s actually lectio divino but it’s something like that

Daily (or almost daily) Mass attendance. People who go only once a week don’t know what they are missing.

Oh yes, and following the daily Mass readings. I particularly like reading them on dailygospel.org. Each day they provide a very nice reflection on the Gospel from great sources, such as doctors of the Church, the CCC, popes and saints. Really helpful. I also like to read the entries on the online Haydock Catholic Bible Commentary. Enlightening, as well. 🙂

I owe much to the 54 day rosary novena I did years back. My prayer request was answered and I have prayed the rosary daily ever since. Also the Liturgy of the Hours which I have been praying daily for a little over a year now (and I’m just now getting the hang of it:)), and of course the Divine Mercy chaplet. When your daily life revolves around prayer, every moment of your life is truly blest, even when trials and hardships are thrown in our path. We learn to lean on Our Lord even more and He always sees us through them. I have had so many answered prayers as a result, prayers answered about things that I had never even prayed about! God is so good to us!!!

Liturgy of the Hours, Lectio Divina, Rosary, and daily Mass which I am able to attend.

Studying, Sitting in silence, and listening(as much as possible) to the still inner voice has been very beneficial for me.

It probably also follows from simply becoming more mature, but I am sure that receiving the Holy Spirit in such a special way through the Sacrament of Confirmation really increased my faith and its practice in my life. Moreover, joining CAF has helped me to understand even more about the Faith than in my years of Catholic school and has helped to deepen it.

May God bless you all abundantly and forever! 🙂

Deepening my personal relationship with Christ and falling in love with God.
