I live in Illinois, can anyone provide information on Ignatian Retreats. I am looking for a retreat house that is solid.

I don’t know how old you are, but there’s a group called Charis Ministries that puts on retreats for young adults (21-40) in the Chicago area.

Miles Christi is a solid and orthodox order out of Michigan that conducts (specializes!) in Ignatian retreats.

They actually go to the Chicago area too!

See: mileschristi.org/activities/activities.htm

Check out the whole website, there is alot of good info about this woderful order.

Hope it helps! A.M.D.G

Here is one in the St. Louis area on the bluffs of the Mississippi. They offer 3-day silent retreats during most weeks of the year. I’ve gone five times and have had some very good experiences.

BTW - People come from all over to this retreat house. In each of my 5 retreats here, the same group of guys from Wisconsin come down.

The Legionaries offer The Spiritual Exercies of St. Ignatius. Some are just a weekend and some are 6 or 8 days. The weekends are wonderful. I go once a year. I believe there are LCs in Chicago. —KCT

Does anyone know about (including their orthodoxy) the Manresa Jesuit Retreat House in Bloomfield Hills, MI (Just outside of Detroit)?

It is less than 10 miles away from me and could be a source of spiritual direction that I am looking for.

Well Wander, I have been on their website for Manresa before, and I certainly have heard other people speak favorably about their experiences there, but I have no first hand observations.

However, although Miles Christ (see above post) is farther away from Manresa, the priests of Miles specialize in spiritual direction, so it might be worth looking into them as well.

I may check them out (Plymouth is not that far away from me). The Benedictines up in Oxford were my first choice, but they are not doing Spiritual Direction at this time. I do want to check with the Franciscans at my parish first to see if they do Spiritual Direction.
