curious has anyone heard of an update if the OT of the ignatius study bible will still be released this year considering everything going on?

Ive seen a past thread a year a go stating that it was to be released in 2020 in 2 parts. Hoping they will release OT and NT in 1 volume.

Currently expected sometime before the second coming - actual results may vary.

Insane occurrences of 2020:
  • Coronavirus pandemic
  • Murder hornets
  • Ignatius OT gets published

Will Coronavirus infected murder hornets be the reason it’s published?

Nah, but they will be the reason it’s published as a single volume instead of multiple ones. 😜

Hopefully it’ll be all in one volume; I’ve heard rumors that it may be multiple volumes, which would be disappointing.

I have a Zondervan NIV Study Bible becuase it has tons of great maps, pictures, historical background, charts, etc. It’s well-constructed, printed in the US and all in one volume at nearly 3000 pages. I think Ignatius can fit it into one book.

I completely agree! Ive heard the same rumors. Worst case scenerio would want 1 book NT and 1 book OT. Im hoping someone was just playing with us when i heard OT was going to be 2 volumes…

I have the NT Study Bible both in hardcopy and kindle.

The hardcopy uses pretty thick pages and large font compared to most study bibles. Those will have to be pared down significantly to make it fit into one book, but it can be done.

If they keep the thick pages i would gladly accept OT in its own volume.

This is a very interesting thread. I recently purchased the ISB NT and the ISB The Book of Joshua. With regard to the paper thickness(individual paper thickness), both books are about the same. As you can see in the picture, the Book of Joshua is slightly bigger than the ISB NT, but the paper In both feel very similar. Only the NT version has cross references. With that in mind, See the screen shot that shows the thickness of both study guides. There’s no way they can put both the OT and NT in one volume while keeping the paper quality and thickness. I question if a one volume OT is possible with the current paper thickness. I for one would like to see it divided into three volumes to keep the paper quality but we will see. To be honest, when I ordered both couple of weeks ago, I ordered under the assumption that the OT version may never come out. I hadn’t heard anything in years so I ordered both. A few days later, this thread pops up. No worries, I’m glad I didn’t wait. I wish I didn’t wait all this time to begin with. The ISB is awesome.(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.) (Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.) Yeah i have the New English Translation full note edition, about 60,000 notes total with appendixes and maps all into one one volume at just under 3,000 pages. If Thomas Nelson can do it, Ignatius Press can.

RedSoxFan45, is the paper thicker in you ot than in the NT? Looks like different paper.

The paper on both feel very similar. If one of them has thicker paper, I’d say it’s the OT. If it’s thicker, it’s not by much. They are very similar.

COVID-19 shut downs and precautions may delay the project with the publisher.
