On some DVD’s a fit for viewing age is applied. For example the case will say Fit for viewing by persons aged 15 years or more. In this case would it be sinful for someone under 15 to watch the DVD?

Obviously it would be illegal for someone under 15 to buy the DVD but could they watch it and not be committing a sin?

It is not the rating system used by Hollywood that makes something fit or unfit for an age group, or sinful/not sinful, but the content itself.

No it is not “sinful” for someone under 15 to watch something labeled for over 15, per se. BUT, the labeling is-- typically-- in place due to the type of content involved.

If the content is morally offensive or has sinful content (for example graphic nudity or sexual content), one should not watch it regardless of how it is categorized for sale or what age you are.

I typically find that what Hollywood rates as over a certain age is really liberal. Things they say are “PG13” are unfit for kids watch. Some of them I wouldn’t watch.

So, you must discern watchability based on not only the age rating provided but on the content itself. The USCCB website offers helpful movie reviews.

As 1ke said. It would be best to find a source that evaluates movies for subject matter. In the U.S., the bishops have a group to do this. Hopefully, there is a similar organization that targets your market.
