Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., called out former Vice President Joe Biden for pulling negative campaign ads after President Trump’s coronavirus diagnosis], arguing that the president wouldn’t have offered the same courtesy.

“Why would Biden delay or suspend his campaign when we know Trump would’ve had ads up by noon today ridiculing Biden for testing positive? Get it together,” the progressive squad member tweeted late Friday.

I don’t think much of Biden, but I thought taking out the negative ads was a classy and respectful move. I think it was the right move. As someone who is very critical and not favorable of him, I have gained at least some sort of respect out of his display of kindness.
 
She misses the point that Biden is not Trump. More to the point, she shows her own lack of moral wisdom. The Golden Rule is about how you would want others to treat you, not how you think they would treat you, or about how they did treat you.
 
Omar made Biden look virtuous in a decision that may not have been his idea, and may have been motivated politically. I’ll give Biden the benefit of the doubt but there’s no good side to Omar’s statement.

I’m in agreement with this. Halting ads across advertising networks isn’t as easy as flipping a switch. It is also dependent on the promptness of actions within those networks which would be outside the control of his campaign.

Don’t get me wrong. Giving him the benefit of the doubt regarding the decision and the motivation regarding the ads doesn’t make him a good choice to be our President. IMO there are at least two far, far better choices on the ballot (including the incumbent).

Maybe she’s just suggesting that he be more aggressive. She seems unafraid to confront detractors. I don’t agree with all her positions, but there is something to admire in a brave woman who has overcome adversity.

Perhaps Biden just sees political gain in being “nice” just as he saw political gain in ignoring the UN"peaceful" protests until the polls showed otherwise…then he changed his stance …

This is the same Biden who tells crowds how his wife and daughter were killed by a “drunk driver” who didn’t drive drunk and who merely was involved in an unfortunate accident where two lives were unfortunately lost …

Who plagagerises speeches and scholarly papers

Actually he says ‘car accident’ now. The family in 2008 complained about the accident being called the fault of a drunk driver and I believe he altered his description then.

In a January article in Politico, Ms. Hamill said that Mr. Biden called her to apologize following a 2009 CBS report on the discrepancy."

 
Except he has been accused of plagiarism in recent months …so it is not just in the past …

Seems JB is running his own negative campaign against himself. Yesterday he was asked by a reporter what his thoughts were on a recent Gallup poll.This poll showed 56% of those questioned feel they are much better off now than they were in the Obama Biden years Joe’s answer? “Well then they probably shouldn’t vote for me “:roll_eyes:
