Illegal Immigrants Sue Wendy's

Hopefully they deport these illegal immigrants. How can they think they can sue… if they aren’t here legally? Wendy’s did what they’re supposed to do.

HOUSTON (AP) – A group of illegal immigrants who worked for Wendy’s International Inc. is suing the restaurant chain because the company fired them after discovering it had missed a deadline for joining a federal program that would have helped them attain legal status.

I mean these folks where having money deducted from paychecks to cover legal fees…

Besides… seems it wasn’t Wendy’s fault but the original owners of Cafe Express:

Wendy’s spokesman Bob Bertini called it an “extremely unfortunate situation” due to “the mistakes made by others” that began before his company acquired Cafe Express.
Both entities “had no idea these applications were not filed on time until late this summer,” Bertini said. “Unfortunately, our hands are tied.”

I would think so
I know that I double check everything and follow-up whenever I have to renew my “green card”
But back to your original question…“how do they think that they can sue?”…
somebody did wrong by them as the lawyers collected funds for work that was never done…they should get it back, IMHO and geta chance to refile or file their paper work with competent attornies!

Why shouldnt their be media hype?
Might flush out the half a**ed lawyers that steal money from people that attempt to do the right thing!

This will probably be the only thing in this whole immigration debate I disagree with you on. I think these immigrants were doing the right thing and got taken advantage of and Wendy’s needs to be punished.

It isn’t Wendy’s that needs to be punished, it’s the law firm that didn’t do what Wendy’s paid them to do. Both Wendy’s and the workers did what they were supposed to do. It was the law firm that dropped the ball. When Wendy’s fired the workers after the paperwork was not filed by the lawyers, they were doing what the law required them to do.

It’s OK for the little darlings to come here and take advantage of us by paying no school taxes for their kids, not paying for health care, not getting a drivers license or insurance, etc, but God forbid anyone take advantage of them. They are here illeagally, send them home. End of story.

So, these “illegal-immigrants” DO pay school taxes. They can, and usually do, get insurance in Texas. They should have got their papers before thay came. IMO they are not good people, they broke the law and should be made to pay the price. They are not good Catholics either because the Catholic Church teaches us to obey the law, whether we like it or not. Now they have the audacity to sue Wendy’s? Send them packing. Around here mostly they live in low income housing which is tax free. If they do have an apartment there, it is likely to have two or more families living together, so the taxes are minimal. You are right, I should have said they pay very miniscule school taxes not none.

I have no knowledge of who lives in public housing. As to the second part of Lance’s statement, you only need eyes, not official sources. One two bedroom rental house near me recently had 12 people living in it. I do not know if they were here legally or not.

So you’re saying that it is not possible, by mere visual inspection, to determine “legal” or “illegal” status and thus the conclusions reached, by Lance, so far have no basis in fact, right?

I said only that I did not know the status of the eight adults and four kids living in the house near me. I don’t know what’s going on in Chicago or on what information Lance based his statements.

It is my personal observation. My son works with 3 illegals, 2 from Mexico and 1 from Eastern Europe. All 3 live in public housing. I know of 2 illegals from Mexico who work for a landscape company and they live in a house with 7 or 8 other guys. When you read the Police Blotter in our local paper most of the Hispanics who are arrested live in public housing. Our school board complains all the time that the illegals are a burden on the system and they are not paying their way, the state sends most of it’s money to Chicgo and the suburbs have to get their money from property taxes.

he works with illegals and he wont turn them in? My dh works in the food industry once a perosn is hired and all paper work submitted they check all paper work etc. to make sure that these people are legal to work in the USA…do you know how many people loose their jobs because their papers aer checked and are BOGUS!!!

it sounds like your son by his inaction is part of the problem.
