Hey guys, a while ago now my sister and I were using illegal software(Sony Vegas Pro) to create this video of our holidays. It took literally forever to make. Once I found out that using this program illegally was wrong, I deleted it but I’ve still got the file itself. The file is editable within Vegas Pro only.

So I was wondering, if I were to buy the software now, would it be wrong for me to continue working on our video? There were also a couple of illegally downloaded songs that we put in it, which I have now paid for.I know now I shouldn’t have been using it illegally, but can I keep going with my video if I buy the software?

Thanks!!!

I think the owners of the software would probably be really happy with you if they knew you want to pay for it after realizing it was illegal 🙂
I don’t think they would say you are not allowed to use it, what do you think?

Yes, I do too.
You know, maybe the best thing is to ask your priest what he thinks about it. I myself would likely ask myself the same question as you… so I am afraid to give you a reply yes or no. I do THINK as I said above that the company would probably not forbid you, but does that morally answer the question? If you ask your priest then you can be at peace when you get a reply from him. I think that is the very best thing to do.

Yeah, I like Sony Vegas also. Glad to see that you are trying to do the right thing. If you can afford the software get it. But if (like me) you’re somewhat financially strapped, you could always purchase a Sony Vegas Pro version a couple of releases back on ebay. Might be significantly cheaper, and still have most of the features you need.
