Hi I’ve been practicing Christian Mysticism for over 10 years. In the beginning of my pursuit of this path God bestowed Illumination upon me. I was basically given a deeper mystical understanding of Him in regards to my own soul. It wasn’t long after that I started to suffer the Mystical Marriage experience and was given Mystical Union with God at the age of 20. I’m 30 now and still live with this experience. Along the path I felt called to religious life so I sought out different monastic orders. I realized the Third Order was the best suit for me, so I went into formation with the Secular Franciscans and became professed last December. I meet regularly with my priest, my spiritual director and we’re in the process of me making a renewable yearly promise of celibacy. What still gets to me is just the pursuit of God can be so intense. It feels like God has swallowed me up in Himself. To share in union with God on a mystical level is very challenging because you take on the weight of his cross. Your soul is crucified to Jesus and the cross internally daily. This makes you have a much deeper mystical love and compassion for all humanity and it’s suffering. You basically become a victim-soul which is a victim of love for God for the salvation of all souls to get to Heaven. Each and every day you offer up your soul to try to expiate sins and help alleviate suffering to try and help all souls get to Heaven someday. I just honestly wanted to share my journey with you. I definitely still suffer with you so you are not alone. Please pray for me.

To a certain extent, I also feel this. Good luck on your journey towards spiritual perfection. You are a beautiful soul. I will be praying for you.

Thank you! I’m just reaching out to everyone on the spiritual path.

I really wish I could have that experience of God even a nudge to say hey bud you aren’t that bad I do love you and I do exist! I know I need to stop with seeking signs and just try to build the relationship but just once it would be reassuring in an era of great denial of God to have someone like tell me a secret no one else know about me or just to confirm something so I feel a little less despair. I’ll keep praying and posts like these give me hope so thank you for making it!

She speaks to her priest, regularly. He is her Spiritual advisor. She’s in a recognized community.
I applaud you. Thank you for sharing. We Christians made of flesh, living in the world but not of the world, are compromised w time restraints. Jobs. FAMILY. A nun told me once, it was easy to be Holy in a limited Holy space. Convent. Holy community.
I believe I was to be a nun and was pulled away by my husband and all exciting things that go w that. I was too trusting and naive as a parent. The kids are OK now but pulled the wool over my eyes. None are going to church. My message wasn’t you have to go to church. It was God loves you and you WANT to go to church. THREE BELIEVE. 1became an Atheist after her husband was killed in Iraq. After 5 yrs, she found someone. He’s an Atheist, too. My witness as it is, it not tempting them to believe.
I should have been that nun. I love God completely. I recall the passion of that love as you have, when I was younger and in Catholic HS. w nuns. Life was so simple then.
I rejoice w you in your journey. I recognize your obedience in being under counsel.
Some may be concerned w some of your wording of mysticism. Mystical marriage. ILLUMINATION. I would imagine you are more disciplined in meditation, which is good.
I recall moments of being enveloped by God. Even though married, moments like that can occur. It helps if spouse is Spirutually inclined.
Anyway, so happy for you. Prayers will be offered for you. Please pray for my family.

Thanks for all the responses! I’m actually a man but the words are very kind. I just wanted to reach out to others on the spiritual path. I’m sure my journey is similar to others journeys as we all walk this path together.

Blessings
Well, PADREPIO, could have been a clue. But, flow of writing felt soft. I apologize for changing your gender. Today, it’s easy to do… Sorry, God!
Our journeys are multi-faceted. At least most of us may achieve the discipline to commune w the Father one day. Many are Holy w readings of Popes writings. Readings of the Saints. I tried Augustine. Couldn’t manage him, at the time. Love his testimony. Imitation of Christ was beautiful. Poor Thomas a Kempis was buried alive. When exhumed, the lid to his coffin was scratched and his nailbeds were broken. He couldn’t be made a Saint after that. CURIOUS!
What would a Saint do, when buried alive??
I can’t recall them mentioning his decomposing state. Reading scripture is my choice. I can’t list all the other books I read but it’s not important. God bless us all at what ever level we are. Hoping for graduating in glory.

I’ve read everything too but Augustine. I just couldn’t get into his style of writing. I just like to be on a path that we’re all walking, the path to Heaven. It’s the only path we should be on since our eternal salvation depends entirely upon it. Blessings to everyone on this glorious day. Hoping no one was injured during the bad storm this past weekend.
