Hello,đź‘‹
I am a 16 year old boy who has an intense love for God and would love to serve him. I've been praying for God's will to be done for the past couple of months and my desire for priesthood has grown during that time. Im still open towards family life but that urge is going down everytime i get closer to God. I do not have a spiritual director but i should get one. Im more interested in being a secular priest doing parish work than religous life. I love the Franciscans but i don't know if thats for me. Anyway feel free to comment and pray for me and many others considering priesthood.

hello there i am so happy you are willing to serve:) GOD.As you have said it will be good if you get a spiritual director.i will pray for oyu so you can realise your dreams if that is GOD’S WILL.be strong and keep praying.
i too i will like to serve GOD.
best regards
merry xmas and a prosperiuos new year.

I too am around your age and I am discerning my vocation. I think I am called to religious life as a brother of a Franciscan community. Message me if you want to discuss vocations.

You both have my thoughts and prayers! Lots and lots of prayers! I am seventeen and have known for six years that I have a call to religious life but have no idea where He wants me to live it out. If you want to talk about discernment in general I would love to listen!

Totus tuus Maria!

PS I love your signature, what great goals!

This post made me think of my best friend. He’s thinking of becoming a priest, also.

I’ll be praying for you! 🙂

Looks like we’re in the same boat, Catholic_Guy; I will definitely be praying for you 🙂

This is really good to hear! I’m 15 and I too have had thoughts of leading a religious life, but I’m definately not sure about it yet. I’ll pray for you and I hope everything works out on your journey. God bless.

By all means, discuss this with your pastor, spiritual director, and diocesan vocations director as part of your process of discernment.

The important thing is that at 16 you realize that God is calling you. Be open to how He leads.

One thing I’ve learned is that God seldom does QUITE what you think He’s going to do, and has all sorts of surprises for us.

That’s great too hear! as people have already said, speak to your vocations director and start doing some research about different orders. be wary though about what your director says and recommends. before i was a seminarian, i talked to my vocations director. he, and apparently many vocations directors, tend to push more towards becoming a diocesan priest instead of being in an order. if you really think an order is for you, then go for it, regardless if your director says he wants you to be a diocesan priest.

Praise the Lord for all these vocations!
I’m really surprised at the number of young people/teenagers who know they have a religious vocation:); I’m 19 and discerning priesthood. I am seriously considering the Carmelites. I started doing research into all the different communities, but I haven’t got very far, because I’ve just been drawn more and more to the Carmelite spirituality.
Hopefully I’ll get a spiritual director soon, with the help of God, and I pray that everyone discerning a vocation will make the right decision at the right time.
God bless:)

Praying for you all :). If you’d offer a prayer for me, that I might get a job so I can work for a year so I can BECOME A PRIEST AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, I’d appreciate it too :D. I have to work for a year before I can join a religious order, and I’m also discerning which religious order I should join.

Hi all:wave: I also share the Hope of one day serving the Lord!!

Sorry I am somewhat unfamiliar with The organization of priests in a diocese, Now as far as i understand it Orders are different groups of Catholicism with different traditions and languages, so what is a diocesan priest?

A diocesan or secular priest is one who serves within a geographical area called a “diocese”. He makes promises not to marry & to be obedient to his bishop who is charge of the diocese

A religious priest is one who belongs to a religious community (such as the Jesuits, Franciscans etc). He may be called to travel abroad and preach missions ( so he is not bound within a certain geographical location). He takes vows of chastity(celibacy), obedience & poverty.

Leave it for a few years and revisit your vocation when you are 21 at least.
In England in the 60s it was in vogue to go to Junior Seminary from the age of 14 and thence Senior Seminary (Ushaw and the like). I have met many who empbraced the ideal at a young age but could not handle the life.
In the Religious Communities it is different than the Secular Clergy where all the training is internal.
I cannot speak for others but, the Carthusian Order would not even consider dialogue with you until you are a minimum of 21.

Thanks for the comments and prayers! When i made this thread i was leaning towards being a secular priest but in the last month my desire to be a Franciscan has grown. I want to be a poor humble servant of God.
