I am concerned I won’t be able to give up the beliefs i had before deciding to convert. I will pray for God to enlighten my mind and teach me the truth.

IT takes time to change our personal culture. Some say a thing has to be heard, read, seen, etc at least once a day for 30 days for a change to begin to take place. This is how culture is changed in commercial establishments.

Be easy on yourself, It is not so much a matter of giving up a set of beliefs as it is in taking on a new set of beliefs. It is harder to unlearn something then it is to learn something from fresh.

It is ok to doubt. Our best example of doubt is in Sacred Scripture with Doubting Thomas who would not believe in the Risen Jesus until he had actually seen and touched the wounds of the Cross on the hands and feet of Jesus.

You are in my prayers this Lent and Easter.

I heard a wise person say “doubt is an okay place to visit, but you wouldn’t want to live there”.

Also, to the OP, sounds like it’s “getting real” for you.
The weeks before my conversion was a time of struggle for me too!
Pray – give your questions and struggles to God.
May I suggest reading Ephesians 2:19?
I did one of those “random open the Bible to any verse” and that’s what I got! It was perfect because I had been fretting over the fact that some things about Catholicism felt “foreign” to me.
