I have been close to protestants all my life so I am always critiquing what they think!

The essential eucharistic belief is the Real Presence. At one point that became formulated as “transubstantiation” based on a very strange usage of the term “substance” where I would think “identity” or “essence” a clearer expression. Much of the controversy is a superficial reaction against this.

If by a “prophetic” sort of impuse some in various denominations have suggested the church of Rome, Gaithersburg or elsewhere as a representation of the Whore of Babylon that is at any rate an invitation to critique any organisational system under which we would take in slavishness as an attitude of heart. (This has been done for nineteen hundred years beginning with Judaisers, super-apostles, the bewitchers of the Galatians and the like.) You might do all the same devotions (that are unfashionable to some) as the next Catholic does, but if you are doing them freely that is a different kettle of fish. There may come a time - however distant - when we each have to decide whether we are in specific communion with a purported successor of Francis (and Peter) or not (it may be a future hazard in the Catholic Church and certainly is in all the other denominations AS WELL) (I think there is absolutely no basis in sedevacantism up to and including the present) but that is no reason to necessarily take the “Whore of Babylon” doctrine of some Protestants literally as literally as they do.

It absolutely is the attitude of heart that counts. Babylon traded in souls (she was dripping in their blood) i.e they weren’t allowed their discretion or initiative in practising and sharing the Gifts of the Spirit (weren’t allowed to trade with their talents for the profit of the family firm) and every denomination is frequently guilty of exactly the same. Some of the web sites that specifically accuse Catholics of turning each other into slaves, but not protestants, are generally turning their own fellow protestants into slaves. Those that mention this as a warning to ALL denominations are more balanced and wary of the danger of their sinning likewise themselves.

Satan mocks God by turning the truth upside down. I feel one of the greatest ways in which he does this is by not only blinding many Christians to the truth of the Catholic Church so they don’t enter, he actually has them attribute the very Church of Christ to himself (Satan). That’s what you call “anti-Christ.” (How many Christians, following this textbook play of the devil, say the Catholic Church is antiChrist?) What did people accuse Jesus of? Casting out demons by the power of demons. There we go again: turning the truth upside down is how Satan blasphemes. Jesus promised that his body would get the same treatment and accsations as him; no Christian body gets this same charge hurled at them, in such common frequency, as Jesus himself. Only and specifically the Catholic Church. Why is that? And isn’t it funny that you are getting the same “upside-down” temptation: going to hell for being joined to the fullness of Christ’s visible body?

On the same note, this is, to me, one of the most telling, mind blowing examples of what I’m saying - and I really hope it speaks to you.

Satan knows the truth of God better than most believers. But he refuses to submit, and he blasphemes, in the manner I’ve described. Why do Satanists exert time and effort to steal consecrated hosts, to use in black masses? Why do they specifically need the Eucharist for this? What do they know that so many Christians don’t? Why bother replicating a black mass? Why not the format of a regular, Protestant Sunday morning service, with either no Eucharist, or even just ordinary bread and wine?

Because Satan knows the truth of God and Christ. And his ultimate way of mocking and blaspheming is turning the truth upside down, so that people - especially well meaning Christians who love and desire Christ, follow his lead.

He’s using a text book play on you, CuriousOne. One he did to Jesus, by having some Pharisees attribute his work to Satan, and one he does to his one visible body, the Catholic Church.

Ironically - and this will tick the devil off if you see it - this is further confirmation that you’re on the truth, not the “opposite,” which is what he wants you to think.

Thanks for posting. The simple answer is that we never know *for sure *that we are saved. However, God in His infinite wisdom gave us the sacrament of confession because He knew that we were going to sin. When you do sin, go to confession and rejoice in the knowledge that no matter how bad anyone screws up God will always forgive as long as we are truly sorry and try to do better. Also you might want to find someone that you can talk to if you feel that you have an overly scrupulous conscience. Granted, we shouldn’t rationalize our faults but you still want to avoid falling into the trap of scrupulosity. Keep the faith and God bless.

I realize that I can not save myself, I pray “Jesus save me!” Help me in spite of myself. I will do my best which may not be good enough, but I know that you love me, and proved it by dying for me, you know my intentions and you know my weaknesses. Your Spirit will strengthen me when I truly need it, I trust in your love and mercy, so I walk humbly before you, trusting in your care, you are my strength and salvation, and always will be. Amen
