I really do need some suggestions on this cause I’m really nervous about where my relationship may be going with her and we don’t want to lose each other cause we love each other very much.
I’m Catholic, born and raised. My fiance is Baptist. We were both raised in very different environments and were both taught different things growing up. Nevertheless me and my fiancee have our arguments from time to time, but most of the time we get along great. She’s not just my fiancee, but she’s literally my best friend. I can talk to her about anything and everything and we have so much fun being around each other. We both have so much in common and we love each other very much. But it seems as though whenever we get on the topic of Religion and Morality, a lot of times (if not most of the time)…it doesn’t go good. We end up arguing and not really to happy with one another cause we both believe in different things.
I mean there are some morality issues that we do agree on (such as Abortion), but a lot of other ones we don’t agree on. Like I informed her that even though she’s not Catholic, our kids have to be raised Catholic. And though she agreed, she still has a problem with that. And when it comes to voting, she was leaning more towards Barack Obama, but I tried to explain to her that it didn’t make sense that she would vote for him when he supports Abortion and all those other immoral acts. And just recently a friend of hers has asked her to be a surrogate mother for her and my Fiancee see’s no problem with that. But of course, I do.
There are more issues that we do and don’t agree one. But either way, recently we seem to argue more about these Religious and Moral issues and I can’t help but fear that our differences and our beliefs may be the cause of our seperation one day and I don’t want that. I mean no two people ever agree on everything, I know that. But still, these are issues that I feel as though are really important to me and my way of life. And I refuse to change my views and beliefs on these things because this is what I believe in and this is who I am and who I was raised to be. But she obviously see’s it differently and that causes tension between the two of us.
So how do you solve an issue like this? When you have things that are important to you and are a way of life for you, but the one person you care for and love more then anything in the world (with the exception of God of course), doesn’t agree with some of the important things you agree on?
