I just want to clarify if Friday is only the day we will have the fasting sacrifice. How about during Wednesday? Do we need to fast too?

In the US there are two days of fasting and abstinence: Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. In addition, the Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence from meat. No other fasting or abstinence is required though you can do more if you like.

How about if we miss the Friday fasting and we accidentally have eaten a meat. How do we recover or what usually catholic practices if miss Friday fasting?

I think that’s pretty much up to you. One thing you might consider is putting a note on your calendar so that you will be reminded in future weeks. Beyond that you might abstain on a different day, do some type of prayer, or perform a work of mercy.

You should bring this up with your confessor.

It is not to my knowledge generally permissible for a Catholic to proclaim “I will abstain from meat on Wednesdays of Lent instead of on Fridays” or “I will pray extra devotions on Fridays of Lent instead of abstaining from meat”.

and we accidentally have eaten a meat.
What does “accidentally” mean here? There are two possibilities:

(A) Someone gave you a sandwich or snack of some kind that had meat in it, without telling you, and you ate it thinking it was cheese or something else.

(B) You forgot you had promised to abstain from meat and didn’t remember until it was too late.

(A) is clearly an accident, (B) not so much.

@Titivillus, the OP said he forgot to abstain from meat and I made some suggestions based on that. That’s far different from saying “I’m making up my own rules and ignoring what the Church says.”

You may fast as frequently as you wish during Lent. The minimum is Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.

B sounds like an accident to me.

Let’s go back to square one.

Abstinence means “not eating meat”

Abstinence is a disciplinary rule of the Church of ancient origin. It is still a rule, but is less strict than it used to be; if we do not abstain from meat on Friday, then were are to make some conscientious effort to substitute some other penitential practice. However, for Good Friday and Ash Wednesday, and the other Fridays during Lent, we are to abstain from meat. Abstinence is required of those from the age of 14 onward.

Fasting means reducing the amount of food we eat; normally it is interpreted as having one main meal (that is, an ordinary amount) and two other “reduced” meals, which would equal one normal meal. Those between the ages of 18 and 60 are required to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.

If you are concerned about having eaten meat on a Friday, speak with your confessor. It is between you and he as to what, if any responsibility you have for having done so.

A mortal sin requires three things; the matter must be serious (the church uses the term “grievous”); you must know the matter is serious, and you must intend to do it. The issue of how accidental eating meat is on a Friday is between you and your confessor.
