I feel so guilty and embarrassed about something. I don’t know what to do. Please pray for me. I’m going to confession tonight but the thing I feel guilty about isn’t even a venial sin I don’t think.
It has been said that sin is turning away from God.I feel so guilty and embarrassed about something. I don’t know what to do. Please pray for me. I’m going to confession tonight but the thing I feel guilty about isn’t even a venial sin I don’t think.
Matthew 13:45-46 (New International Version - UK)
(Paraphrasing from a talk by Father Sedlak C.Ss.R [Redemptorist]…)45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls.
46 When** he found one of great value**, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.
God the Father is the merchant…the central character of the parable…you are the pearl of great value…and the great price he paid…is*** the Lamb of God, Our Lord Jesus Christ***…the Father paid with His Beloved Son…to get you…and me…and all of us!
Thank you ljubim for your prayers. They are greatly appreciated.Lord wrap your loving arms around Holly and never let anything else get through. Let her tonight rest in peace knowing that You have forgiven her. :byzsoc:
Thank you Tarek ChidacOur Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come. Thy Will be done, on earth, as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners,
now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Thanks cargau. I am definitely going to confession this evening! It has been said that sin is turning away from God.
What I always find fascinating is that people who really love God, never turn away from Him. But, they really hate that they offended Him.
God knows this about you, Holly. Go to confession and bask in the glory of His mercy!
Hehehe. I like the last line of your post. That’s cool! That guilt and embarrasment that you are feeling is one way that the Devil gets us to hang on to our sins. After all, how could God possibly love us if we are so totally wicked?
Let it go Holly. Know that you are forgiven! Jesus has already paid the price for this and all of your sins, now all that remains is for you to go and confess and accept that forgivness!
It is very good news! JESUS LOVES YOU!!!
May the Good Lord Bless You Always!
NOT JUST STRONG…CATHOLIC STRONG!!!
Wow. That is powerful. It brings tears to my eyes. I never really understood that parable very well until now.Holly…I am sure you have read this passage Matt 13: 45-46 many timesParaphrasing from a talk by Father Sedlak C.Ss.R [Redemptorist]…)
Most of us Christians realize that Jesus’ spoke in parables to reveal hidden truths… so we seek to find/understand those truths in each parable (by personal study/by meditation & reflection/from the homily/etc).
But, what most of us Christians do not realize is that Jesus’ parables are also like a good joke with a punch line.
Why?First, because we live this life like we are in our own little fishbowl…with a guardedness around our heart…because we feel vulnerable to life and to one another…and too often even with Our Lord. We are always aching to CONNECT…with “life” in general…with someone who can love us, and with God. But we can’t escape the reality of feeling separated…trapped in a fishbowl (if not all the time…much too often…especially when we need love and support).
Second, Jesus really came with Good News…through his incarnate life with us…forever…the DISCONNECT we feel is an ILLUSION…the separation we experience in heart…in mind… and in feelings…is an ILLUSION!
Third, Jesus’ parable breaks the illusion by awakening us to God’s loving and intimate presence at the center of our being…it breaks the illusion that we must be at the center of our being…of our lives.
Fourth…look at the parable above again.: I bet that you (like me) see yourself as the merchant. It is up to you (and me) to pay** the great price** for the pearl of great value. Somehow…you (and I) have to obtain God’s presence and love for your (my) life.
Fifth…Jesus has a different vision and version of our lives. God is the center of our life in every moment of our existence…in this life and the eternal life…that is just the way it is…period!
Sixth…Jesus’ punch line is that this illusion you (we) experience does not exist…it never has and never will…but to get the punch line…you have to realize thaton’t worry…and don’t feel guilty or embarrassed…just go humbly and with great confidence to your Father…through His Beloved son…Our Lord Jesus Christ…You are already his pearl of great value…and he has paid a great price for you…you are his beloved adopted daughter…never doubt and never forget the Truth…and the Punch Line… of this parable!
At Holy Mass…in a hour or so…you will be in my prayers…please keep me in your prayers.
