in the Wichita, Dodge City and Salina area. I will probably be in Dodge City for a weekend. Can anyone tell me of a good orthodox parish that I can attend Mass? Also, are there any shrines I should know about? Is there Catholic radio? Thanks in advance for your help.
 
I don’t know anything about the churches or shrines, but the EWTN website lists these radio stations:

Bishop Gilmore is an excellent and orthodox bishop so I’m assuming that any parish you pick will be OK.

In Wichita, if you are in the central part of the city, visit the Cathedral. If you are in the east side, visit Blessed Sacrament Church. If you are on the far east side, visit the Church of the Magdalen. If you are on the west side, visit St. Francis of Assisi. Or you can choose from the dozen or so other parishes that are within the city or on the outskirts. There are some beautiful, historical parishes just west (within 10 miles) of the city - St. Mark’s, Andale, Colwich, Ost, Aleppo, with beautiful altars and windows and fine liturgies. You shouldn’t be disappointed in Wichita as we are a very orthodox diocese.

All I know about Salina is that the current bishop is very orthodox. I’ve known him since he was a deacon and he is a fine man, fine priest and exceptional bishop. Yes, I’m biased!

Sorry, but there are no shrines to visit in the immediate area.

You are right. Perhaps the OP could make a big circle, going from Wichita west to Dodge, then north to I-70, thru Victoria and back to Salina. That would be a lot of driving.
 
Thank you all for your great responses. I will be checking out some of the places you told me. I will be extremely busy with work, but with a little help from God, I will be able to find time to take some “time outs” for Him in some of his beautiful churches. I’ll let you know as I make the trip.
Adrift - I didn’t have time right now to check out the website you indicated on the cathedral in Dodge City, but surely will later in the day.

I attend the cathedral mentioned in Dodge City, Kansas. Once one gets past the thought of a traditional church, it is truly beautiful. Some of the craftsmanship comes from locals and we also have the relics of the twelve Apostles placed under the alter. We just married in the church this past October after several years of falling away due to my prior divorce etc. Our daughter was just Baptized this past Easter Sunday morning.
If you attend, introduce yourself to either Priest, both our wonderful!! I can’t speak highly enough about Father Ted, he is a true angel on Earth. In fact, I must give credit to our Priest for making our marriage into the church a reality so quickly when approached about the subject. There is quite a bit of history surrounding the shrine, etc. Let it be known you are a visitor and I wouldn’t at all be surprised if someone doesn’t offer you a quick tour.

I had quite an experience in Dodge City tonight. Back home we do the Divine Mercy Chaplet on Friday evening. Seeing as I am leaving Dodge City early (Saturday) I decided to go see the Cathedral tonight. I was thinking I might get lucky and they do the Chaplet. Unknown to me, there are two Cathedrals. The new one on 14th Street, and the old one on 1st Ave. I quickly got the address off the internet and went to the one on 1st Ave, thinking I was going to the new one.
When I arrived, guess what? The Divine Mercy Chaplet was in progress, so I was able to get in on that, then they said the rosary also. They gave me the directions to go to the one on 14th St. So, I went to this beautiful church and met Fr. Ted Skalsky who informed me that the Divine Mercy was usually said here, but because of road construction problems they are temporarily doing it at the 1st St location.
So, I arrrived at 1st by accident, and was able to pray the DM., which is usually not said at 1st St. I was blessed.

gdeann, you mentioned in a previous post that a priest would probably show me around. Fr. Ted was very gracious, showed me around the church and we had a very nice visit. He also pointed out there is Perputual Adoration, so I was able to visit the Lord also.

Jim G and Adrift - I am on my way up to Salina tomorrow and hope to stop at the Cathderal of the Plains, pending weather.

By the way, I don’t think the Cathedral in Dodge City is ugly. Modern, yes, but keeping the statuary and icons. I loved it.

I didn’t think it was ugly that was the title of the thread. I love Dodge City saw Bishop Sheen there.
 
JimG and adrift, I visited the Cathedral of the Plains today. What a beautiful church. I took my time and enjoyed every aspect of the building, the statues, the communion rail (what’s that), the architecture and everything else in the building. Lots of pictures, thank goodness for digital cameras.
I thank all you who helped me find these wonderful churches. I am off to Topeka, Eudora, and Lawrence, not in that specific order than back home, (if the tornados don’t get me) Pray for those poor people in Greensburg.
