Unfortunately, this post won’t be as well written as I would like, I am mentally exhausted.

DH is still looking for a job. He’s been looking since January. Little “blips” on the horizon appear and then disappear without coming to anything.

He had a really great interview recently and I was certain that all this worrying was coming to an end. I prayed about it daily and I had faith in Mathew 17:20 "He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

I tried to think positively that it would all work out.

It didn’t. I’m hurting. I don’t even quite know what to say to my DH. I know that sometimes God’s answer is, “No,” but I’m totally at a loss. I don’t know what to do and I’m starting to have difficulty with keeping smiling.

If the next few weeks don’t bring something I think we will have to put our house on the market before our savings are gone. On one hand I am glad we had a cushion that we could go 8 months on only one income, but I’m very upset that we may have to sell our home that we love, that we bought with every intention on staying in and starting and raising a family in. And worst of all, that we’d have to sell it when the market is absolutely awful. Living just down the street from the church that called me to find a faith and become Catholic, the church I got married in. I just can’t think about leaving this house - not to mention where in the world would we go?

I think I’m starting to get scared. Does anyone else ever feel like the more praying they do, the more things don’t work out the way you’d like them to?

We many times do not know what God’s plans are or why He does things the way He does. I do know that from past experiences that God always brings us to the other side and in the process He gives us beautiful gifts to ease the journey. My husband was sick and dying and He put the most beautiful people in our life. I know those people would not have touched our lives in the way that they did without the trials we had to go through. I will keep you in my prayers!!! God bless You!

Yes, many times things do not turn out like I want despite much prayer, but I know that God has a plan, and we can trust Him to know what is best for our well being and others.

We can pray for His will be done, and to give us strength and peace in doing His will. We are weak and He is strong, and He has loving arms opened wide to comfort and help us in our struggles here on this earth.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers for comfort and peace during this difficult time.

Blessings

We’ve gone through the very same thing. It’s frustrating, I know.

Had the same thing happen with this too, more than once. I think we tend to put our faith in the great interview instead of in God alone. A great interview doesn’t always pan out, so don’t get your hopes up when he has one. Try to keep your hope centered in God not in any company or job opportunity. Mine is the voice of experience.

The first few like this are very hard, I know. After a while you learn to say and to believe that it wasn’t the right thing and there is something else God has in mind for us.

Lay all this before God and let him deal with it. We cannot know why a situation seems to not get resolved or when it will be. All we can ask is: “What does God want me to do?” And what he wants us to do is trust in him. As hard as it is, we have to sometimes ask ourselves if our attachments to the things, people, and places we love are greater than our attachment to God himself.

I know I’ve had to ask myself these things, and I know how hard it is. But, God always comes through. We’ve had food on the table, the roof over our heads and our needs met even though things have been very tough financially. There is light at the end and that light is God. Keep your heart, eyes and mind on God and all will be well. I will pray for you and your dh.

LovingLife, all I know is that God does have a plan for us all, even when we have no clue as to what it maybe. If you would have told me 6 months ago I would be in RCIA, I would have laughed, but that is where I am. If you are forced into selling your home as scarry of a thought as it may be, it’s not the end of the road. God may have somthing else around the corner, that’s even better. Sometimes we just have to hang on and let the plan unfold, and keep praying. Trusting God fully takes on a whole new meaning when you risk soooo much change huh? Since I have taken to praying the rosary recently, I’ll offer my next one for ya 🙂

That is a truly beautiful thing to do!! How many more of us can do that for Loving Life? I definately will.

Yes, my dear, I certainly have.
The I got through the woods and found God knew more about what I like than I did and was ever so grateful He went to so much effort on my behalf.

I specificly remember a 3 year period of horrible health, funerals, pregnant/babies without insurance, and no steady work for either of us.

**NOW, I see a plentitude of blessings and graces were apparently at work during that time, but it sure was hell to even imagine them then.:gopray2: :console: **

It’s funny how the worst thing we think could happen to us turns out to be a blessing later when we look at it. When my DH flunked out of pilot training the USAF, I prayed so hard to try to keep it from happening, but it did anyway. I knew he had wanted that so badly… That happened just before our first child was born. Now I know that it was a blessing, because pilots are gone so much, and he would have been just miserable leaving his children all the time. He has wanted children since he was a teenager, always knew he was called to be a Dad. And our kids are so attached to him…he is so important in their lives. They all would have been less enriched by each other had he become a military pilot.

When DH was asked to resign from the police force because he was not meeting expectations in his training, I was terrified. We had had our fourth baby and bought a house for the first time. I thought if he lost that job, all else was lost too. And yet…the demands of that job were literally tearing our marriage apart. I now know intimately why the divorce rate is so high for police. We fought through a very scary year where I had to go to work, and he worked two jobs that didn’t pay very well. We were able to fix it so that I only worked when he was home and vice versa. That year was almost pure hell, but we stuck together and made it through. His part time job led into a permanent job in the field he really wanted to work in, with an organization he loves working for. He feels like he is using his skills and his degree, and getting to do some good in the world at the same time. He is one of those few, privileged people who can actually say that they like and enjoy their job. That makes him happy, and he is a better father and husband for it.

I don’t know what blessings God will give you through the challenges you are facing now. If you have to sell your house, would that really be the worst thing? A couple having their first child can be very comfortable in an apartment or condo… I know it’s not what you want to do, but what if it’s the right thing to do? You guys need to really sit and think about this together. Try and discern what message there might be in all of this. But above all, stick together, face it all as a team. Fighting between yourselves is the most destructive thing you can do. The only reason DH and I made it through our challenges was because we consciously made it our mission to live through it in a way that strengthened our family.

Good luck and prayers for you…

I had the same problem a couple years back. I lost my job of 25 years and like some Americans I have to work to pay the bills. I had just got a new house too. Well I went to work for a retail service business until another job came along. I took that job have been there for close to 2 years. Things do work out. I did have to take some of my retirement funds and get the big tax hit to make ends meet for awhile.

Ironic thing is now I am having trouble with this job. It seems that something always comes up…

Saying prayers for you and DH.

PS Welcome to the Faith! Oh heres a little story. On the night I was Baptized and for a couple of weeks afterwards I was so depressed. Tells me there is more forces at work here. 😃

Don’t worry, don’t dispair, don’t stop persevering.

I have placed all of this in the Sacred Wounds of Jesus now you watch and wait patiently. God never leaves His children to suffer without victory. Hold on to your faith and onto the Cross of Jesus, Venerate His Cross and you will see no matter how much things get tied up in knots, He will unwravel them and as most often it seems He does it out of nowhere when things don’t seem as though they can get any worse. This glorifies His Name and edifies His children in their faith, therefore deepening faith and drawing the soul yet closer to God.

When we ask Jesus to help us, with a deep trust in Him and remembering we sinners are deserving of nothing, He is always delighted by this prayer because it is true humility. He will never refuse it.

Offer yourself and all you are enduring to Jesus at Holy Mass as an offering of sacrifical love to Him, united to His Eternal Sacrifice, for His will.

I assure you this will all be resolved and there is nothing that cannot be solved. Trust in Jesus is only proved in adversity. However we must be careful to pray as ardently in times of reprieve from the cross as we do when we are under the cross.

I often say this prayer ‘Teach me Jesus to love my cross because You have allowed it for my sanctification. Amen’

Pray to the Crucified Christ and Venerate the Cross of Jesus. Jesus will refresh your spirit.

Persevere in prayer and in the faith and trust in Jesus.

In the Living Prayer of my life.
