There are a lot of infertile couples out there who pray every day for a child. You could let your baby live and at the same time be an answer to some other good Catholic couple’s prayers. Consider that.

Again, ma’am-please, please, please don’t do this.

We don’t know how hard it must be for you, it must be so difficult. Please, don’t give into temptation and do this.

If you need to talk to someone, there are crisis preganancy centers out there. You can talk to any of us privately as well.

And to everyone else out there-Calling this poor woman a “murderer” isn’t going to help anything!

It is possible, you have an eating disorder and yet you still got pregnant! That is a miracle in itself! This child is meant to be, get yourself to a BirthRight or other crisis pregnancy center and talk to the counselors there, they will give you the emotional support you need as well as any material assistance you might need for you and the baby - please, please, please reconsider! Consider the fact that (unfortunately) you can get an abortion all nine months. Please give you and your husband more time to think this through, don’t go to that appointment.

My heart breaks for you and for you unborn baby.

Let us all take some time to pray for our fellow CAFer that she be given the emotional strength to not go through with this.

Hail Mary full of grace the Lord is with thee blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit if thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Brenda V.
There are several reasons:
  1. We are just not ready yet.
  2. I have an eating disorder - I am not in the emotional, mental, and physical health to have a baby right now
  3. I am currently on ST disability from my employer because I am getting treatment for my eating disorder - and I can only take so much time in a 12 month period.
  4. We are in a pile of debt - and financially it would be impossible.
  5. I would be due early April - and with my work schedule - that is the worst time possible. My husband and I always talked about him finding a new job when we decided to have kids - as we need something more flexible and he is just not ready to leave his job yet.
Numbers 2-4 are our main reasons. This is a very scary situation for me - my husband is scared to death about how this is all going to effect me and my trying to recover.

This is why we cannot go through with this. It is just not possible.

You will not have the abortion. You just need to hear the good reasons for having a baby.
Having a baby is the most natural thing in the world…and the most glorious.

In fact this may be your only chance to have a baby;
don’t throw it away - the chance and the baby.
Everyone is holding their breath in Heaven and here on earth.

The joy this baby will bring to your life will far outweigh any hardships.

Trust your instincts - don’t listen to others. You know in your heart that you want this baby. Good luck and let us know what you will name the baby.

Honey, my heart goes out to you. I know you’re struggling here. But please, please don’t do what you are contemplating. You know in the depths of your heart and soul that it’s WRONG. Your eating disorder can kill you, but so can this. You won’t just be killing your baby, you will be killing part of YOU. That isn’t an acceptable “alternative.” Eating disorders can make pregnancy hard…but it isn’t impossible. You’re acting out of an understandable fear, and panic…that is no state to be deciding someone else’s life in. Yes, someone else’s, because you know this is more than about YOU and how hard it will be for YOU.

Your doctor can work with you on this. You can see a nutritionist, keep going to counseling. You can get weighed backwards on the scale and never have to see the number go up. You won’t be able to get around seeing yourself with a bump, but it is a sacrifice that will be worth it…even if it feels horrific to think of right now…it will be temporary, but the choice you make now will affect your eternity, and it will affect the entire life of another innocent person.

Planned or not, you are, right now, a mother. And mothers are strong. We have to be. God made us this way. He does not give us anything without the graces to handle it, we have to be open to those graces. What is impossible for us, IS possible with God. He would not give you a baby you cannot handle. It will be hard for you, but is hard for any mother with a health condition- whether it is a heart condition, diabetes, schizophrenia, etc. etc. etc. YOU CAN DO THIS. Not alone, but with God. He would never abandon you! And He would never abandon the new life inside you that He has willed to exist! Please take your trust out of yourself, your husband, and your own ability to handle this situation, and put it in God Who can do ANYTHING. Talk to your dr. about how you could continue treatment while pregnant, look into financial assistance (once the pregnancy is confirmed by a doctor you can look into a lot of resources to help you out on that front, please don’t dismiss them before you’ve actually tried them!), explore adoption options if you and your husband truly don’t feel able to raise this new life- some will cover your medical expenses while pregnant as well as the delivery. All you would have to do is go to your appointments and fight like hell not to let your illness beat you, and you are doing that already!

You will regret an abortion, literally, forever, but you will never regret trying to let this baby live. I’ll be praying for you, your baby, and your husband. Please, please think this through. There are never enough reasons to justify what you are planning to do, you know this or you wouldn’t be posting here. You are terrified and have every right to be…don’t let the fear win. You are stronger than you think you are. You are a Mama Bear, and you need to fight for your cub now. You’re the only one who can. God bless you!

If this is real, PM me. I know 4 families who would be overjoyed to raise your child, and can put you intouch with crisis pregnancy groups who will assist.

Please, I beg of you, don’t do this. I’ve been through something similar to what you have gone through, except I was 18, unmarried, unemployed. But the finance issue was central to my thinking when I decided to have an abortion. And now, I would give anything to take it back. Anything. I think of my child everyday now. Not a day goes by without thinking of him and then that sting of regret–the thorn in my side for the rest of my life. That feeling of the blood of an innocent child on my hands. My child would be 15 now. A big kid, thinking about school, future, college. I snuffed that out. And I have no hope for relief of this grief and pain–not in this world. I’ve accepted this as my cross from the Lord, maybe it will make me a better servant of Him, but I wish that I had not had the abortion.

Please don’t do it. I know it sounds rash, but if you need someone to adopt your baby, I’ll do it. To save his life, and we would love him and give him a good home. My husband and I have been trying to concieve, but have not been successful. Send me a message, dear one. What can we do to help you?

(forum Mods, if I have overstepped my bounds according to the forum rules, please forgive me. If we can stop just one abortion, though–then that is worth the entire world).

Please, please, please don’t go through with this abortion. You will regret it for the rest of your life! Once it is done you will never be able to take it back and will carry the sorrow with you for the rest of your life.

I absolutely did not think I was ready to be a mom when I found out that I was pregnant. I had lots of plans, and being a mom was something that was supposed to be way off in the future, not something that was supposed to happen yet. I had struggled with depression and been diagnosed by a psychiatrist with post traumatic stress and OCD (along with the depression). We had (and still have) tens of thousands of dollars of debt as our student loans continue to pile up). And we live in a 10 x 15 foot cabin! And it has all worked out!

It isn’t easy to do, but sometimes you just have to put your trust in God and his plans for your life! He did not create this life so that it could be destroyed. He has plans for you and for your child! Those plans do not include being torn from your womb.

I know that it seems impossible now and that the pregnancy hormones are probably making the situation seem even more dire, but you have a child now and you need to think like a mother. You need to do everything in your power to protect this child. He or she already exists. You already have a son or daughter!

Please don’t go through with this abortion. You will be in my prayers!

My children are grown up, and I’m still not ‘ready’ to be a parent. Nobody is. I had them in my forties and became a single parent in my fifties, through divorce, not by my choice. Don’t allow fear to guide your decisions. Trust in God.

Looking back, I can see where He took care of me even when things were darkest and I didn’t know what to do or where to turn. He controlled my fear, and even though I didn’t have the life I might have dreamed of at one time. I never lacked for what I needed.

You must realize that God has given you a gift - another life to nourish and care for on his behalf. Some day He will ask for an accounting. It really isn’t about you any more.

If this is real, PM me. I know 4 families who would be overjoyed to raise your child, and can put you intouch with crisis pregnancy groups who will assist.
Heck, I’d be the first in line if she’d let the baby live, but she obviously doesn’t want help, otherwise she wouldn’t be numbering her multiple reasons kage.

Another vote for not going though with it. My husband and I have been trying to have a baby for about 8 months now and it just burns me up inside that people don’t appreciate the fertility that they have. I know people on this forum and on other forums, heck even people in real life that would be all too happy to raise your child, myself included. Please don’t do this.

I think your first step should be to talk to your doctor about whether it is safe for you to have this baby before any assumptions about whether it is safe to carry the baby to term are made.

These are not reasons. These are excuses.

My dear sister in Christ-

Though you may regret getting pregnant because this is not the best time, you will be replacing one regret with another. Just like bills, regrets can pile quite high.
You are holding a human life inside of you. Life is the greatest gift God can give us, and we must cherish it. Remember: He will take care of you. Looking ahead, you will be far more content to know you have kept the baby, rather than stop his/her heart from beating. God is holding you in the palm of His hand; the same with your child. And even if it means giving him/her up for adoption…still, you are a miraculous tool in building God’s kingdom!! I see your health issue and know your pain. My mother too, had many health issues while she was pregnant, but that never stopped her. She always knew that the life of her child was as important as hers, and that this beautiful, growing human being inside of her had a right to life (unexpected or planned). It was that selfless love that reminded me so much of what Jesus did so that we would live!! And now we can!! Eternally!!

You are in my prayers.

There is never an end after abortion. With children you mark the passing of time with indelible moments like first steps; potty training; birthday parties; etc. My oldest daughter is now 25 with 2 children of her own. When my wife was expecting I’d lay my head on her stomach and speak to our baby. When the big day arrived, she was whisked away to be cleaned and measured and weighed and she was beside herself, crying uncontrollably and very angrily. I walked to the table where she lay and reached my finger into her fist which she clinched and I said “It’s okay baby girl.” At that she immediately stopped crying and began twisting her head around and backwards because she recognized my voice. I have never been the same.

I was party to an abortion and on top of the loss and the crushing guilt there are never any moments to mark the passing of time. No questions are ever resolved. Boy? Girl? I’ll never know. I can estimate a birthday but no one but me marks the days, no one but me wonders where that child would be today. No one.

When Christ went to Lazarus’ tomb, he called him by name, and Lazarus came forth. Jesus changed Simon’s name to Peter. What will your child’s name be? Will they ever have a name?

Imagine being lost in a strange land a hundred miles from anywhere familiar, without any way of communicating your position or your predicament. Now imagine that from the distance you heard someone calling you by your own name, in your own language. It would be like water in a desert.

Who will call out to your child in their darkness and wilderness? Will you call them by name, or will an anonymous stranger reach into their world and destroy them without comment as if they never existed at all?

It’s your choice, of course. But mark my words, you will not be able to live with it even with God’s forgiveness. You will look at your other children and judge yourself unworthy of any of them because you once left your own flesh and blood, nameless, helpless, defenseless and forgotten in a strange place and there will be no one who marks their passages the way you mark your other children’s birthdays and first steps, and first day of school, their graduations, their own marriage and their own children’s births.

These things will run through your mind for the rest of your life and you will bear this cross alone, in the darkness, with no name, no defense, helpless and forgotten, like your child.

Please please please reconsider.

Your concerns are valid, but in the end, they are not even close to being enough to kill someone. I don’t really have the best advice to give, but some in this thread do, so please listen to them. I’ll pray for you and the baby.

I found out I am pregnant yesterday. I scheduled an abortion for Wednesday.

I know that this is horrible, that I will regret it, and I hate myself - but I have no choice. The alternative is just not an option. All I can think about is if God will ever forgive me…

All I can think about is if God will ever forgive me…

Can God forgive pre-mediatated mortal sin?
Would the God of Catholicism permit a mortal sin, give a waiver?
Would God owe an apology to the Philistines, who offered their babies to their false-god, Molech, if he forgave you for challenging His Moral Authority?
What is the sin of pressumption?
Has God not promised His people enough?
Has an alternative course been offered by members of Gods Church? (I’ll answer that, YES, I see plenty of alternatives right here in this forum)
Is there any value in being a Catholic?
Are you really thinking about God?

It’s your choice, of course…
Dear “Convert”. Your testimony brought tears to my eyes. But I just wanted to reiterate… that “choice” in the matter of life and death, does not belong to human beings. It belongs to God alone. I know that we’re on the same page. I just wanted to highlight this, for the OP’s sake.

Thank you for your sincerely beautiful witness to life. God bless you.

This is the saddest thread I have ever seen. 😦

The poor OP is eat up with sadness and loneliness. You can just see the isolation drip from her ever word. 😦

And the poor, helpless child in her womb. :crying: I can just hear this child saying, “But, mommy, I could have found the cure for diabetes! or alzheimer’s! or Parkinson’s! Mommy, please let me live, I could give you so much love despite your pain.”

But, then, there are all the unsympathetic, angry posts in response to her pain, her loneliness, her isolation, her misery.

Oh, this is the saddest thread I have ever seen.

Hail Mary, Our Mother, you who are brimming with grace,
the Lord is with you, be with us, too,
grant us a share in the grace which you have received from Your Spouse, the Holy Spirit,
blessed are you among women,
blessed is the fruit of your womb that you said ‘Yes’ to despite the uncertainty, the fear, the questions which you had,
who is Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior, Friend and Advocate.

Oh, Mother of the Word Incarnate, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now for we need your aid,
and at the hour of our death!

Heck, I’d be the first in line if she’d let the baby live, but she obviously doesn’t want help, otherwise she wouldn’t be numbering her multiple reasons kage.
She’s probably really confused right now. Maybe she does want the baby to live, maybe she doesn’t.
