I am interested in joining the Knights of Columbus, but I am curious if they allow those who are divorced into the order?

I will be going for Lack of Form, so my marriage will be considered invalid, so I will be free to marry down the road if I was to find someone to marry. So I am thinking based on that, the KofC would allow me to join.

Are there any KofC members here are the forums?

My 4th Degree Sir Knight husband, who was his council’s Advocate (who has to know the rules and regs of the Order) tells me that the Knights don’t ask if people are divorced. The only requirement is that you be a practical Catholic in union with the Holy See (that is supportive the Holy Father). My dh says you may want to ask your parish for someone who can contact you, or go to Knights of Columbus, scroll down to the bottom of the page to Request Contact . There are links on the website to direct you. 🙂

The Knights of *Columbus allows you to recognize your faith at the deepest level of the highest knowledgeable part of your soul.

Knights have to be practical Catholics, that is, practicing Catholics. Divorce would not be a bar, marriage outside the Church would be.

So I should wait till after I am granted lack of form?

I guess my other question would be is that I was given permission of to attend church every week. I can go every other because of having my children every other week.

Would that keep me from becoming a Knight as well?

Are you remarried outside the Church?

Nobody will quiz you about how often you attend Mass, especially if you have a dispensation from your pastor.

No, I’m it remarried outside the Church. My divorce was only two weeks ago and am waiting on the final divorce papers in order to do the lack of form paperwork.

I was a Knight from 2002-2015 getting as far as 3rd degree. It’s a good group but I just don’t have the proper time to put into it anymore.

As I understand it, you need to wait until your annulment is final and you have regularized your new marriage in the Church. Since you can join the Knights any time after that, there’s no hurry. It would be best to talk to your priest about your situation. I wish you all the best. 🙂

Another marriage is many years down the road. I don’t even have anyone in interested in currently.

Do i need to wait till I get married again in order to join the order?

I’m sorry. I took your last post to mean you’ve entered into a second marriage before receiving and annulment.

In a word–no. 🙂

OP, there is no reason that you cannot be a Knight. Married, single, widowers, all are Knights.
