Im maronite, but forgot. Help me out guys

So, as far as Im concerned, lent this week was the last thing i had to worry about.

Then I just remembered that Im a maronite, and so I have to follow their calendar. They state that lent begins on Ash Monday (yesterday).

Obviously ive missed it, but should I still go tomorrow to a Catholic Latin rite ceremony? On this website:

maronite-heritage.com/html/holy_days_of_obligation.html

it seems Ash Monday is not a Holy Day of Obligation, is that right???

What do I do? Continue as if Id not missed it? Start now, so to speak, and go tomorrow?

Or what.

Don’t worry about it, start your fast The ashes should be optional, the practice is a borrowing from the Latin church and it is pure devotion, not obligatory. If you really want to get ashes at the Latin parish go right ahead, it is your right, not your obligation.

One can never be too holy!

It would not be a Holy Day of Obligation. However if your wish you can attend a Latin parish and receive the sacramental if you wish. Nothing prevents you from doing this.

I have encountered Byzantine Catholics who scorn most everything Latin simply because it is Latin- but all Traditions of Catholicism have made wonderful contributions to Christianity.

This is true with many Byzantine catholics but Maronite catholics are far more open minded to Latin Traditions and have more overlapping traditions such as Ash Wednesday or in the Maronite right it is celebrated on Ash Monday point is it is tradition they have in common with the Latin tradition. While it is important to return to Maronite liturgical traditions without gross Latinization to be simply dismissive of all latin traditions and not to consider some as legitamate appostolic traditions would be cleary shortsighted as far as Wash Wednesday it was once celebrated in the Eastern RItes as well but the anti-latin sentiment in the Orthodox communion might be responsible for them dropping the tradition that became identified as a western tradition. THe Maronites in their wisdom rejected such nonsense. They also use latin devotions such as the rosary. They are truly a universal rite with bothe western and eastern theologies and traditions. I think some Byzanintes loose some of their universaility be rejecting everything Roman including the study of the western fathers in order to empahasize their easterness. We should be empahsizing out Catholcity above all else.
