Just for the record,
I was raised Catholic from birth but never took it as more than a social/family custom. I dropped it when reaching legal adulthood.
Personally, I don’t believe the god of the Jews is God at all.
Not that I believe this either, but the Jews describe some entity out of a science fiction movie that certainly demonstrates power and abilities beyond theirs. He/It offers help in war in exchange for worship and delivers the goods.
As such, Christianity doesn’t stand on much of a foundation when it comes to being “elected by God”.
