I’m Not CATHOLIC BECAUSE, I cant get into the RCIA …tisk tisk, I am sulking. I now am on stand by waiting for the Priest who is trying to start a new RCIA class to give me the new “GOOD NEWS” and get me rolling.
I can see your hesitancy, but remember that Jesus gave the descendants of Abraham privileges over any other race throughout the entire Old Testament. He followed the line of Abraham religiously (no pun intended) and even other God-fearing people had to acknowledge how God selected Abraham’s line to lead the people of Israel. Why then would He not bless Peter and his successors to lead His people properly?…I do not believe the church of Jesus Christ exists exclusively in one organization. I furthermore do not believe God gives special gifts and gracings to one organization that He will not give to other organizations on the basis of lineage.
So, haha I tried to help you,Im sorry but not for me. Its all perfectly explainable, to me, by perfectly understandable biological processes.
Actually we can:

I have to disagree - we know atoms exist because we can see them, we can experiment with them, we know how they behave and can predict this behavior etc. and this is confirmed every second of every day in the stuff we use, the medicines we take and so on.
The same can not be said for God - In my opinion.

It makes absolutely no sense for you to believe you must change your mind. If you believe you must change your mind then it won’t be the mind you have. Many people never change their minds and they always have the same mind. You have absolutely clear understanding and have no reason to change your mind. Now, there are many things that can be seen in the world and for those that look in the world there is no excuse not to know what it is to know about God or not. Forget about all that. Don’t ever give it another thought. You are an athiest. You like being an athiest. Your mind is your mind and to have anyone tell you that it is not a good mind and changing your mind is good…welll who is to say…here is what I say…your mind is your mind, my mind is my mind and if anyone wants to change my mind it is going to be me…living life as we do the only reason to consider changing your mind is or why anyone wants you to change your mind now is because they believe your missing out on something. Now you don’t see that and your are happy with your mind so you should speak your mind and keep your mind and changing your mind is up to you.Im sorry but not for me. Its all perfectly explainable, to me, by perfectly understandable biological processes.

I appreciate the pleasant conversation.Would you rather believe in God ,and then, when you die, find out there isn’t one? Or, would you rather live not believing in God, and then, when you die, find out there is one?
God Bless,![]()
God made you to believe a certain way?I appreciate the pleasant conversation.Youre talking about Pascal’s wager here. My answer is, I would rather live a life of integrity, and if there is a God, and I am to be judged, I fail to see how He could possibly condemn me for being honest and true to myself. After all, he would have made me so

Sarah, you are here for a reason. I have no idea what that reason is. But then again, I never thought I would become a Catholic. If I had to go back and say that right here (a certain time) is where it started, I don’t think I could.I appreciate the pleasant conversation.Youre talking about Pascal’s wager here. My answer is, I would rather live a life of integrity, and if there is a God, and I am to be judged, I fail to see how He could possibly condemn me for being honest and true to myself. Well, God can condemn you. It’s this thing He gave us called “free will”. We choose to follow or we choose to not follow. Right now, you are choosing to not follow because people have told you about God’s existence. So, it is just like sin. It is a veniel (however you spell it) sin until your conscience is informed about it being a mortal sin. Then, stuff gets serious.I appreciate the pleasant conversation.Youre talking about Pascal’s wager here. Now hold on a minute. Are you seriously suggesting just because Ive been told of the existence of God, that is sufficient reason to believe!!!We choose to follow or we choose to not follow. By the way, did you know Jesus talks more about God’s furry than His love? I didn’t until recently. Just thought I would let you know.![]()
Sarah, you are where you are.Now hold on a minute. Are you seriously suggesting just because Ive been told of the existence of God, that is sufficient reason to believe!!!
Im sorry but it doesnt work like that - at least not for me.
All my life Ive been aware that people believe in God. But that was never sufficient for me to.
Im also aware of some of the stories in the Old Testement, and honestly, it’s best I keep my thoughts on them off this forum out of respect.

Nope, it’s not enough. And it’s okay. Now hold on a minute. Are you seriously suggesting just because Ive been told of the existence of God, that is sufficient reason to believe!!!
What would Jesus have to do to prove His existence to you? Just curious…Now hold on a minute. Are you seriously suggesting just because Ive been told of the existence of God, that is sufficient reason to believe!!!

Hi MiriamSarah, you are where you are.
Nope, it’s not enough. And it’s okay.
I am not being facaetious with this answer - Im not going to say things like a personal apperation because we understand a lot about hallucinations so Im not even sure that would convince me BUT things that would make me sit up and take notice would be:What would Jesus have to do to prove His existence to you? Just curious…![]()
Hi Atheist girl, i have been reading along for a long time, and now i am going to pipe up…I am not being facaetious with this answer - Im not going to say things like a personal apperation because we understand a lot about hallucinations so Im not even sure that would convince me BUT things that would make me sit up and take notice would be:
Answering Prayers - as per the numerous and unconditional claims for this in the Bible - but not on an individual basis, on a mass, consistent, universal basis.
Healing - Jesus tells the disciples, and presumably his priests, their descendants, to heal the sick, cure the lame, raise the dead. For priests to evidence not just a spiritual healing ministry, but a physical one, where we can study those healed - that would include amputee limb regeneration, obliteration of all cancers, etc.
Unity - all christian sects (Im leaving out the myriad of other different religions for now) claim to have the Holy Spirit as their guide. Yet they all disagree with one another on some level - some superficial some so profound they condemn other christian sects and claim they are not even christian - this to me is evidence there is no Holy Spirit guiding but rather mans mind and personal interpretation - so let’s see total and absolute unity of christian belief, one single church, one single set of beliefs, all arrived at independently by different people of different cultures and different languages and all completely agreeing with each other on every single level.
Visionaries - I have never been able to understand why visionaries almost always seem to be devout, humble, simple, often uneducated and very young, people - who then give messages to Bishops or the Pope and in the case of Fatima, keep things secret for decades.
Appear at the next Atheist Conference, or the United Nations - and not invisibly, visibly, so there is no ambiguity or personal interpretation involved - with a clear unambiguous message.
Christian behavior - I know and have dealings with some wonderful christian people. They do, it seems to me, try to live out their faith day by day. But the vast majority of people I know and deal with, while saying theyre christian, just go about their daily business, and it seems, that although they believe they have access to some wonderful news or secret about salvation and believe, genuinely, they are going to, or have a good chance of getting to, heaven, where they will live for all eternity, it doesnt seem to make the slightest bit of difference to them on just about any level.
They are moody, rude, miserable, greedy, selfish, covetous, thieving, lying, adulterating, cheating, deceiving, blaspheming and occasionally murderous.
Finding a rabbit in the precambrian fossil record
That would do for starters. It would certainly give me something to think about and wonder why that should be so.
I dont know of any clergy who through their ministry (not medical qualifications) are actually healing people of cancer or regenerating limbs. I dont think it’s very few, I think it’s none. But I stand to be corrected.Scripture tells us not all are given the charism of healing, only some, in today’s wowrld it seems like very few.
By mass confirmations on a universal scale. By witnissing, after the prayers of the faithful, the halting of a magma flow to allow a village to decamp, by witnissing the sudden and unexplained extinction of a major forest fire, upon the prayers of the faithful - things like that. How could one verify prayers are answered on a mass universal scale?
Christianity has never been united. From the very beginning there were people who believed differently and were called heretics and were banished. So I dont think its correct to say there has ever been total chrsitian unity. Since all sincerely and faithfully believe they are being led by the holy spirit, one has to ask how and why this is not more self evident.Christianity was united as one before the yr 1054, then man’s ambition got in the way.
He is God. He can do whatever he likes, including changing His mind.Well if Christ did that then it would be the end of the world for He is to return on the last day.
I said at the very outset I know some wonderful christians who try their very best to life by their faith, day by day, and they are truely wonderful people to know and to do business with. Finally you need to recognize that some people are actually trying to live what they claim to be.
Hey Sarah, I want you to look at this article. It’s about the powers that God has given his priests, when they follow God and allow Jesus to flow through their works and lives. Everything on this article is true. It is not made up. Just promise me one thing while you are reading this: try not to think of your opinions or thoughts, just read it.I am not being facaetious with this answer - Im not going to say things like a personal apperation because we understand a lot about hallucinations so Im not even sure that would convince me BUT things that would make me sit up and take notice would be:

Hi,
Well I believe I am “Catholic” in the fullness sense of that word. I am just not Roman Catholic, or Eastern Catholic. Why are you not a Catholic?![]()
