I'm not baptised, will I go to hell?

When I grew up in the Baptist church i was a part of, I was never baptised because I never felt it to be as holy as they made it out to be (same for communion). I realise now that that was because it wasn’t a Catholic church lol, and I do want to be baptised now. But what would become of me if I died before I was baptised?? I have heard that I will go to hell, and I have also heard I won’t.

The *Catechism of the Catholic Church * says: “For catechumens who die before their Baptism, their explicit desire to receive it, together with repentance for their sins, and charity, assures them the salvation that they were not able to receive through the sacrament.” (CCC 1259) (A catechumen is a person who is preparing for Baptism.)
