There is a question I am having difficulty addressing. I would greatly appreciate some direction and help. Someone I know asked me this question…

Why do Christian leaders claim to worship the same god and yet be so different? She also wants to know why there are a myriad of paths and methods of salvation that have made many confused. If you are also in this position, could you express your hopes as well as perhaps confusion/concerns as to why there are many claims?

From what I have seen, the other paths to salvation other that Jesus all seem to have a hint of Satan in them. So they are lies to lead people away.

Why? Because there really are so many different paths to God. Don’t get me wrong, there is ONE path to God and that is Jesus Christ. But there are different ways of following Jesus.

St. Benedict, for example, followed Jesus by withdrawing partially from the world to focus his life on the Psalms, the prayerbook of Jesus. St. Francis followed Jesus by marring himself to poverty and caring for the poor and the Earth. St. Ignatius of Lyola followed Jesus by helping souls for the greater glory of God.

There are more than one ways of following Jesus that are radically different from each other.

As stated above, however, not all people who claim to follow Jesus do, in fact, follow Jesus. There are many wolves in sheep’s clothing. Therefore beware, and judge a tree by its fruit.
