I think you’re right about the meat thing. I knew that going in to Lent when I was in RCIA and I thought how hard could it really be? Afterall I’d gone other days of my own free will where I didn’t eat meat and it was no big deal, but it seemed that on those Fridays of Lent a hamburger or steak was all I could think about. But I persevered.Hi Mark. I’m assuming that you don’t have a wife or girlfriend, which is probably a good thing right now, because your conversion could have caused problems in your relationship. I know that it did between my ex girlfriend and I, since she was a Southern Baptist. Just study as much as you can, and try your best not to chicken out at the end of RCIA like I did back in 2009. You may want to study Lent before it arives, because if you’ve never observed it before, it can come as a culture shock if you’re not prepared for it. Abstaining from meat on Fridays was the hardest thing for me during Lent, so I recommend that if you think you’ll have a problem with it, consider practicing it on some Fridays before Lent actually starts.
