I'm sick of the rabid Islamophobia on these boards...

What concerns me most is Muslims that spend all their time trying to convince the West that their religion is peaceful instead of clearing out those who hijacked their religion.

When I look at predominately Muslim country and see that they back canidates from Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood what am I to think except that those voters support violence?

Clean up your mess then come shake my hand in peace.

It is important to note that, while the Enlightenment did remind the Western world of the sacredness and dignity of every person created in the image of God and each person’s freedom to live as he or she saw fit, it was indeed a Christian concept they were reviving. So it is thanks, in large part to Christianity that we have our freedoms in the West.
I would credit Christian humanism with these ideals rather than the “Enlightenment,” which was responsible for the Reign of Terror in France, and the wholesale guillotinning of innocent nuns.

It was Diderot, a literary figure of the Enlightenment, who made the comment: “Man will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest.” Doesn’t strike me as a great humanist sentiment, but rather a ferocious opposition to all religion.

Hi

Kindly quote from Quran. I think there is no such verse with instructions like this.

Please don’t do like this.

Thanks
Respectfully, paarsurrey, are you saying that because no verse of the Qu’ran contains this instruction, that therefore this phrase and the accompanying activity does not, and never did, exist?

Come now.

Ahh finally… a “Sola Scriptura” fight I have no dog in!

Hi

First of all you should admit that there is no such verse in Quran containing instructions that “convert, or die”. The religionist of a religion are bound by their Revealed Book, the instructions must originate from there.

Any activity which is not done according to the instructions of the Revealed Book is activity misunderstood.

Please don’t blame a peaceful man Muhammad.

Thanks

Mostly Qur’an…some Hadith…

*And when We would destroy a township We send commandment to its folk who live at ease, and afterward they commit abomination therein, and so the Word (of doom) hath effect for it, and we annihilate it with complete annihilation. (Sura 17:16)

“Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.” (Bukhari 84:57)

“I will instill terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them.” (Sura 8:12)

“Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and those who are with him are ruthless to the Unbelievers, but merciful to each other.” (Sura 48:29)

[Allah’s Apostle said] "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. “O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him.” (Bukhari 52:256)

“Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not.” (Sura 2:216)

“Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued” (9:29).

As to those who reject faith, I will punish them with terrible agony in this world and in the Hereafter, nor will they have anyone to help. (Sura 3:56)

Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority. (Sura 3:151)

They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks. (Sura 4:89)

And fight with them until there is no more persecution and religion should be only for Allah (Sura 8:39)

And let not those who disbelieve suppose that they can outstrip (Allah’s Purpose). Lo! they cannot escape. Make ready for them all thou canst of (armed) force and of horses tethered, that thereby ye may dismay the enemy of Allah and your enemy. (Sura 8:59-60)

So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them. (Sura 9:5)

Go forth, light-armed and heavy-armed, and strive with your wealth and your lives in the way of Allah! That is best for you if ye but knew. (Sura 9:41)

O you who believe! fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness. (Sura 9:123)

Therefore listen not to the Unbelievers, but strive against them with the utmost strenuousness, with the (Qur’an). (Sura 25:52)

So when you meet in battle those who disbelieve, then smite the necks until when you have overcome them, then make (them) prisoners (Sura 47:4)

Allah’s Apostle said, “I have been ordered to fight the people till they say: 'None has the right to be worshiped but Allah” (Bukhari 8:387)*

Generic Man,

I’m still wondering why you aren’t praying for us rubes instead of condemning us?

I’m still wondering why he hasn’t replied to the invitations to look at and provide comment on the Barnabas Fund website detailing Islamic persecution of Christians. Could it be that, for once, this is not a crackpot website and therefore is not worthy of comment? It’s his op: no proprietary sense.

Maybe it’s because it’s probably irrelevant because iirc the person who posted it was missing the point?

And once again someone misses the entire point of this whole topic and my statements.
You now speak as if you had to condescend to speak to us, which presupposes some very large prejudices about Catholics.

That is, you act in the very way you condemn us of: Barnabas Fund will help you to understand what it means to speak and act as faith dictates where there is no freedom of religion but lot’s of Islam and Sharia law.

Come on: what are you hiding from?

Admitting to being wrong is a virtue, not a vice.

I respect Islam.Theres nothing wrong with it.
Hi Teeliumtrozzle,

I’m interested to know if you are willing to admit that you have ever researched or studied Islam and it’s lone so-called messenger, Muhammed. (I think Generic Man, the submitter of the original post, hasn’t.)

Do you have a favourite verse from the Qu’ran or Hadith that you would be willing to share?
Do you have a favourite Qur’anic story?
Who is your favourite Islamic character?
Is there an Islamic Sheik today that you admire; somebody we can learn from?

Please, do tell.

I’d like to recommend that you study history a bit more…some of the countries you listed are NOT correct…and why did the US drop bombs on the others?
Which ones are “not correct”?
Grenada…dropped some bombs on Cuban soldiers and revolutionary forces of the government that had overthrown the legitimate…if communist…government at the time…we invaded a country that had been invaded.
PANAMA: We overthrew a violent dictator…with the support and thanks of the locals.
Libya: State sponsor of terror.
Iraq: Invaded a nonbilligerant nation…supported terrorists…etc etc etc
Right, so all this bombing was justified. I guess you think there are just endless reasons to bomb-as evidenced by the fact that you can find no bombing unjustifed that the US has done in the past quarter century.
Iran…we bombed Iran? When?
In the 80’s, the US shot down a civilian airliner, and bombed Iranian oil producing facilities.
Lebenon: We bombed Lebenon? We might have thrown a few missles at Islamic militias…I challenge you on this one…but concede we might have in the 80’s…for the given reason.
So missiles with explosive warheads don’t count as bombs? Of course, as for all the other bombing, you think it was justified. Notice that the US never bombs unjustly, even though it has a longer list of attacks than any country currently labelled “extremist”.

For example, how many foreign countries has Iran bombed in the same period?
Serbia: Yep, I even radioed in some of the air strikes personally…they were committing GENOCIDE
Like I said, it’s always justified. How convenient. You might also want to recall that the US congress voted overwhelmingly against the bombing campaign-but Clinton ordered the strikes anyway.
Nicaraugua: When did the US bomb NIC? We supported anti Communists rebels…but when did we bomb them?
What do you think the anti-communist terrorists were using to fight the war? Nicaragua sued, and won, in the International Court of Justice over this. Of course, the US just ignored the court’s decision that the US was committing aggressive acts of war against Nicaragua.
El Salvador: When did we bomb there…we incorrectly supported a nominally pro American government…but bombed?
Yes, bombed. Terrorist bombings were a routine part of the plot to “defeat communism.” Numerous nuns and priests were killed in the process.
You know what would be nice to see…Moderate Muslims out in the street protesting every time the Islamists were…here in the US if the KKK is out…Christian groups are out protesting them…when the “God Hates Fags” church from Topeka is out protesting…they’re almost always outnumbered by REAL Christians protesting against them…THAT is what I personally mean when I say I want to see moderate muslims denounce Islamists.
How many American people were out in the street protesting against delivering war materiel to Saddam Hussein?

How many Americans are protesting the US government’s current protection for an airline bomber from Venezuela (Carille, if you follow Latin American news)?

There is plenty of violence against others that is not protested by Americans. But you just don’t care about that violence-it’s only notable to you if Muslims do it. And that’s why you find poll after poll around the planet yields negative opinions about the United States-because most people on this earth do not think it is a peaceful country at this point in time.

Father James Schall, SJ is no spring chicken. Neither is he an alarmist. But his thoughts about Islamist political intentions in his latest article in Crisis magazine do provide some food for thought.
I agree 100% we should not gang up on lone Muslims but I am alarmed at how anti-Christian Muslims are.

How many American people were out in the street protesting against delivering war materiel to Saddam Hussein?
I’m going to have to call you on this, pro. Please provide the evidence (not the export licenses of biological research material) that the US had delivered to Saddam Hussein.

Thank you.

Yes, Palladio. I hate Catholics. Although I myself am Caholic I still hate them anyway. Y’know? [/SARCASM]

I’m not hiding from anything. I’m merely suggesting we stop the gang rape mentality towards Muslims. I am not defending sharia law or terrorism. You’re jumping to conclusions.

Son, I’m starting to think you’re the one being condenscending.

Funny you should talk about gang rape, GM.

Did you know that the prophet of the Islamic Allah condoned his followers RAPING the female captives they took when they went on their raiding expeditions on unsuspecting villages?

This is the teachings of the prophet of Islamic Allah.

Did you know that?

I feel for the rape victims of those crimes sanctioned by Islamic Allah. As a Catholic do you stand with the rape victims or against them?
