Please pray for me…

I am at a tipping point for my humanity. I’ve been betrayed by everyone I know, including my old spiritual community. I find myself more angry than ever. It feels like it’s reaching a boiling point. To the point, that my faith now seems to revolve around the idea that those that betray me will one day be punished for what they have done. If bad things happen to bad people, and bad things happen to me, does that make me bad? If so, why bother anymore?

I don’t want to be this way, but I’m losing hope. All I think about now is vengeance! I’m tired of turning the other cheek. I’m married with kids. My extended family are good for nothing. None of which are spiritual, but act like they know it all. As the sole provider for my family I’m use to being last, but lately I’ve become weary of finishing last. I’m there for my wife, but no one is there for me. My kids have special needs and no one helps, including our parish! . I’m hanging by a thread. By the way, if your first thought is she’s a stay at home mom, she needs more help, don’t bother replying. I am well aware of the needs of a stay at home mom and I can confidently say I exceed them in spades relative to “mommy time”, helping out, or being a husband/father. I don’t need someone to detract from my cry for help. And all you, tough love, “suck it up” people out there, get lost! It doesn’t work with me. I need to hear from sound individuals, not idiots who want to hear themselves talk and pat themselves on the back because they think their solution works best.

I’m sorry. Has anyone else gone through this? If so, what did you do?

One more thing…don’t worry about me acting on my vengeful thoughts. I would sooner leave and disappear from the world than do anything like that.

Gracious and merciful Father, please come to his assistance.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.

praying for your healing and ability to forgive. Just a word of advice. While you’re asking for prayers and this is the prayer intentions subforum, a lot of your post seems to be looking for advice and help. This might work under another subforum where others can share how they overcame anger and hurt.

As robwar mentioned, this is the prayer intentions thread.

Move it to the family life or spirituality or some other thread if you want advice.

Read the first line…

So, let me get this straight…You read a thread from a fellow Catholic about how low things are, and even though the first thing posted is “Please pray for me…”, there is also a question about advise, yet your first response is “Wrong thread.”???

Classy…Great reflection of Catholicism…NOT!

Praying for you and your anger. I know you don’t want anger driving your life. That is not good spiritually or physically. I have been betrayed too and it is very hurtful. Praying for your healing and that you can find helpful advice.

Praying to the Holy Spirit to give you guidance, direction, strength, fortitude & wisdom in your time of need.

:signofcross: Heavenly Father, call out to Mr. Loney, reveal Yourself to him; reveal the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary to him and help him to know that no matter what happens, You are there - let him come to You and find rest in You; and pour out compassion, forgiveness, abundant joy and deep peace upon him and his family!!!

And … thinking of Psalm 23:
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.

Jesus, Help Me Prayer

In every need let me come to You with humble trust, saying:
Jesus, help me!

In all my doubts, perplexities and temptations:
Jesus, help me!

In hours of loneliness, weariness and trials:
Jesus, help me!

In the failure of my plans and hopes, in disappointments, troubles and sorrows:
Jesus, help me!

When others fail me, and Your grace alone can assist me:
Jesus, help me!

When I throw myself on Your tender Love as a Father and Savior:
Jesus, help me!

When my heart is cast down by failure, at seeing no good come from my efforts:
Jesus, help me!

When I feel impatient, and my cross irritates me:
Jesus, help me!

When I am ill, and my head and hands cannot work and I am lonely:
Jesus, help me!

Always, always, in spite of weakness, falls and shortcomings of every kind:
Jesus, help me and never forsake me. – Amen

From the sticky notes at the top of the prayer intention forum:

I have some thoughts for you, but I’m not going to break the forum rules.

Please repost your request for advice in a different forum if you actually want advice.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady of Mental Peace

O Lady of Mental Peace,
Mother of Tranquility
and Mother of Hope,
look upon Mr Lonely in this time
of weakness and unrest.

Teach her searching heart
to know that God’s Love
for her is unchanging and
unchangeable, and, that
true human love can only
begin and grow by touching
His Love.

Let your gentle Peace -
which this world cannot give
  • be always with her.
And, help her to bring this
    same Peace into the lives
    of others.
Our Lady of Mental Peace,
  • Pray for us!
    Amen.

I can relate to this.
But I have been the stay-at-home mom.

I too have kids with special needs. yada, yada
My estranged husband took off with some other woman, in the name of God. Too many kids in my brood want nothing to do with the Church which, in some ways, but not in others, practically condoned the ex’s shenanigans.
I’ve had my fair share of health challenges, especially from breeding 'til it almost killed me.

But at the end of my day…

“Jesus wept”.

I am ashamed to say I entertained way too many thoughts of revenge, especially after the other woman threatened to kill one of my young adult children.

What’s the best revenge in my viewpoint?

Give them over to God and pray for their conversion (and your own). If they become one of Christ’s followers, that is the perfect revenge. They have to do good by God and Jesus is happy because there is one less lost soul in the world.

Besides, I know I am far from perfect. I try not to judge too harshly, lest I get the same measure of judgement.

As far as the parenthood is concerned, I’ve found that we’re pretty much on our own in the Church. There just doesn’t seem to be many inclusive parishes. I know it’s a tough cross to bear. But do what you can to show love to your kids. They see the loving care of Father God through your actions and words. If your kids are young, there will constantly be “one more thing” to do or clean. But the children won’t be little forever.

I’ve learned to lighten up a bit with my kids and have more fun serving God through my family. And I’m thankful to God for that.

I hope and pray that things will get better for you and that you find a deep, abiding peace as you carry such heavy burdens.

I am so sorry for your struggle and pain…I am praying that our Lord can clearly give you guidance…be open…when we aren’t it’s hard to see what He wants for us…also, we MUST forgive…regardless of what was done against us. (Lord’s prayer!) Trust that HE loves us and knows what is best for all of us…and we ALL need this advise and prayer.

My love in HIM,
mlz

Betrayal is bitter and hardens the heart. I know; I’ve experienced it many times, often by the people I love most. I don’t claim to have forgiven former friends. But each time my family turns on me, I find myself drawn to love them again. I know it is GOD turning my heart back to love. I have sworn to never let certain people back in, but GOD is always there, convincing me to choose forgiveness. I pray He does the same for you, and I send you my well-wishes.
