I never really realized how spoiled I was in receiving the sacrament of confession. Typically where I am from, it is offered every day of the week at my parish 15 minutes before every Mass and for an hour on Saturday. However, this past week I went out of town. Before I left I intended to go to confession but then we had to leave earlier due to circumstances, so I figured I would just go when I got there. I arrived on a Saturday evening. I went to Mass at the parish and there was no confession before Mass! I picked up a bulletin to find times during the week and the only time was on saturday afternoon and I was leaving on saturday morning! I tried to schedule an appointment but the priest was booked until the following week. I disperetly searched for other parishes around the small town but to no avail. Eventually the only time I could go was when I arrived but home. I finally realized I am really fortunate and in having confession so readily available to me. Praise God!

The Sacrament of Confession (Reconciliation) should be available to any Catholic anywhere there is a church or priest. If I were you I would write the Pastor and explain your concern. He may not know that the person answering the phone is turning people away that are requiesting access to a Sacrament!

You are very blessed indeed to have regular confession available so often. To my knowledge (though I have only checked with about 5 parishes near me), there are no parishes in my vicinity which offer confession other than Saturday afternoons, except by appointment.
