I'm starting to hate democracy. Is this wrong?

I am so sick over last night’s results.

I wish that Our Lord would come back, and come back SOON!

Why were Catholics so stupid to re-elect Obama again?

The only thing that [sort of] consoles me is that he is a mortal man like all the rest of us, and that one day (and I hope it comes sooner rather than later) he will have to face the Judgement Seat of God-and God will NOT BE IMPRESSED with Obama’s title of ‘President of the United States’. That will NOT COUNT in His sight!

And may the souls of all the aborted babies who were killed in the first term now accuse him in his second!

Don’t we have any REAL LEADERS anymore? Where are the young people from our ‘true’ Catholic colleges? Why aren’t they getting into public office so we can finally kick people like Obama and his evil minions OUT FOR GOOD? Where is all this talk about ‘changing the culture’ like one hears on places like EWTN? IT’S ALL LOT OF TALK! THERE’S NO ACTION!

Our country seems to be going the way of ancient Greece and Rome…we are rotting morally from within…God help America…

We would run out of living space quickly. Check out Hungary and its new pro-Church constitution. If things go terribly wrong in the States in my lifetime, I will look for a TLM there to settle by. I can learn German, I’ve seen enough old WWII movies.

I’ve read that during the 60’s or probably earlier, most Catholics in the US were democrats. What’s the difference between then and now?

There have been books written on the subject…

First Catholics historically have been immigrants and poor and not well treated. To the extent that the democrats are the ‘party of the people’ it made sense for Catholics to agree with their policies more.

In the 1960s and early 70s, it was republicans who were pro-abortion, so it made even more sense for Catholics to be democrats then.

Once JFK gave his “my religion is private” speech, Catholics began to separate their faith and their politics more and more.

Democracy favors the majority. If a majority of voters disagree with you on the candidates and issues, then you’re going to dislike democracy. Would democracy be a better form of government if we had elected Mitt Romney instead of Barack Obama? Plato had it right: democracy is the worst form of government – except for all the other forms of government.

And why would you be learning German instead of Hungarian? You are time-traveling back to the time of the Austro-Hungarian empire?

Best of luck to you in today’s Hungary, where 90+% of the country speaks Hungarian and virtually none but the oldest speak German or passable Russian (like many countries previously allied with the USSR, they dropped that like a hot potato following the revolutions of 1989-1990). Hungarian is non-Indo European, and its closest relatives in family to which it belongs (Uralic – Finnish, Estonian, and several minority languages of Finland and Russia) are sufficiently separated from it both linguistically and geographically so as to make it essentially a language isolate in its neck of the woods (surrounded as it is by Slavic and Romance languages, both of which are Indo-European). There are Hungarian minorities in Slovakia, Serbia, and Romania, but outside of those areas, Hungarian is virtually useless if you are not living in Hungary proper.

Not to mention that it is notoriously complicated and difficult to learn, from the point of view of those who are used to Indo-European languages like English, German, French, Dutch, Russian, etc.
