One may be a Christian of a denomination that doesn’t have the understanding that the Catholic Church contains the fullness of what our Lord teaches.

That person can be saved, and through the grace of the Catholic Church.

That is my understanding from the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

God knows who is culpable of stubborn resistance or invincible ignorance.

Exactly, it would be analogous with mortal sin. One does not sin if he is ignorant of the sinfulness. The same way, one can be saved if he can’t know or understand that the Catholic Church iis the One true Church. But, if the person rejects the Church because of what it is, then salvation is more than endangered.
Still, as many said, conversion is always possible. That’s the teaching of the prodigal son. It may just need time.

communion with God without being so in the Church

“The Most Holy Roman Church firmly believes, professes and preaches that none of those existing outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans, also Jews, heretics, and schismatics can ever be partakers of eternal life, but that they are to go into the eternal fire ‘which was prepared for the devil and his angels’ unless before death they are joined with Her…
No one, let his alms giving be as great as it may, no one, even if he pour out his blood for the Name of Jesus Christ can be saved unless they abide within the bosom and unity of the Catholic Church"*

Genuinely cannot understand how anyone can believe this!

What is the problem you see? Out of the Church, there is no salvation. If the person didn’t reject knowingly the Churchh and the Faith, there is hope for the non-Catholic. But the way is one, as Jesus and the Church is one.

There are so many millions of devout Jews, Buddhists, Moslems etc etc - each following the path of righteousness towards salvation. It surely doesn’t matter what name they give to our Creator - He knows and loves them all; each one of us being His creation. Why on earth should we presume to think that an all-knowing, all-loving God would condemn anyone who genuinely seeks to ultimately be with Him for all eternity. I have a deep respect for others who are not Catholic but who lead better spiritual lives and are better people rhan I could ever hope to be. Surely it is incredibly naive to think that God only has room in Heaven for Catholics! Why would you think this?

Marco, I can give you 20 more statements along similar lines from per V2 popes. The bottom line is that the ecumenical movement and v2 documents REVOKED previous Church teaching on how it viewed the heretics, jews and schismatics. Whereas per V2, such were on the road to perdition, now they can be saved.

My view is that assurance of salvation is in the Church. That others can be saved, sure, but they only can. If we remain in friendship with God in Communion with His Church, salvation is assured.
By revoked, I don’t know what element do you mean. No salvation outside the Church is to say we know the Church is the way God provided to be in friendship with Him. we cannot be sure if and how he will save others. and remember, no matter how devout or pious you may be in your other religion, there may be some good elements, but they are parts of the truth which do not save per se.

How the church sees the heretics - which is another one as in the past, this is true - doesn’t change the fact of salvation or damnation about them.

Devotion doesn’t equal salvation, even for Catholics. the path of rightfoulness in one, it may converge to that one as the believer converts, but it is one, as far as we know.
That God loves all uf us is proven by free will, not universalism. We do not presume to think an all-knowing and all-loving God condemns people for his pleasure, we KNOW what Jesus said about salvation. And this is not a lack of respect to other religions, we HAVE to love everyone more than ourselves, that doesn’t mean we accept other beliefs as redemptive or granting salvation. we all know that Jesus loved the sinner, but the sinner had to convert. Jesus discussed with the Pharisees, but they also had to change.
To be good people wan’t suffice. We are called to be heroes and saints.
I don’t think it is naive, because room makes no sense in Heaven, only will be judged worthy those who are friends of God.
By the way, I am not closing the doors to others, please understand me. And I quoted a pope, it is not only my opinion. Again, a view on people’s possibilities can change (pastoral) a hard teaching on salvation can’t. 🙂

I’m going to take a long break from religions. Catholicism has let me down just as much as my born again days. No fruits are born.
GOOD BYE!
Please don’t condemn me to hell.
I have had enough of the fantasy.
I still believe in Christ and ask for his forgiveness all the time.
My wife is downhill. And prays have not helped.
Enough is enough.
I’m sorry to hear about your marriage breaking up, but now you need to be stronger than ever. For this is great sorrow for you and it is difficult enough handling something of this magnitude with Jesus, much less without him. I hope you will reconsider and give yourself more time to think about it.

You know and I know that Jesus didn’t break up your marriage. Sometimes people are set in their ways and are self determined to do what they want to do. Jesus didn’t do this, and contrary to the opinion that God can do anything, he usually dosen’t because he respects a person’s freedom. Just as he won’t make you stay with him if you decide to turn from him. But he does want to help you to find the courage to get thru this if you will give him the chance to be with you.

He didn’t die on the cross thinking of you unless he loved you very much. Please don’t sell him short just because of your wife. He did not do this, so would it be fair to blame him? He really loves you, and he understands what pain and suffering you are going thru. Let him help you in your time of need.

Mary our Lady of Grace grant you the comfort of her love.
May God bless and keep you. May God’s face shine on you. May God be kind to you and give you peace.

I think in the writings of PAUL he announces the importance of being in a relationship requires you both to devote yourselves to each other rather than you could say the less fortunate types who are single and devote or at least try to devote themselves just to G-OD .
Underestimating your attempts of a closer walk with the spirit one would think have surely not gone unnoticed .
Mysterious also are mans ways, thoughts and disappointments, contrary to their belief of the spirit being all consuming more mysterious and no long lasting will to think like a human ( A little humour never hurts ) .
Single people are less fortunate who devote or try to devote themselves to God than are married people?

MainBrain, we wish you peace! Cling to Jesus in your absence, we pray that you will be back! I was agnostic for the first 47 years of my life, so I can attest that there is nothing there to give you peace.
