Image of BVM on Chasubles

I was very surprised one day to see an image of the Blessed Virgin Mary on a Chasuble. What also surprised me was that it appeared to be an icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help – although I could be wrong on this score as I could not secure a good view of the image. Also interesting was the fact that the color for the day was red – I do not remember what feast was being celebrated that day.

Someone suggested to me that rather than Our Lady of Perpetual Help, it was, instead, Our Lady of Sorrows.

Are there any guidelines on the appropriate images, etc., on chasubles, etc.?

From my experience, I have seen some beautiful vestments with Mary’s image used on her Feast Days. Even deacons can buy stoles with her image. I have seen these vestments used on very special occasions, only. It might be different in other places.
 
I don’t believe there are any specific specifications as long as the chasuble color is according to the mass. As long as the images are not inappropriate, I believe it is perfectly fine.
