Immaculate Conception of St. Anne?

I know I heard this many years ago, but cannot find any Catholic sources for this. Does anyone have a source that speaks to St. Anne, Holy Mary’s mother, also being immaculately conceived as Mary was? Or is this just speculation I am remembering.

I hope I am wording this correctly and plainly - that’s not usually my strong point.

St.Anne was conceived naturally like all the rest of us. She didn’t have to be Immaculately Conceived for Mary to be Immaculately Concevied.

From Ineffabilis Deus, the Apostolic Constitution of Pope Pius IX solemnly defining the dogma of the Immaulate Conception, 8 December 1854.

“We declare, pronounce, and define that the doctrine which holds that the most Blessed Virgin Mary, in the first instance of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege granted by Almighty God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the human race, was preserved free from all stain of original sin, is a doctrine revealed by God and therefore to be believed firmly and constantly by all the faithful.”[29]

Thus we see that this grace granted Mary by God was singular, that is, she was the only human being to which this favor was granted because God chose her for a unique mission.

Thank You! It must have been speculation that got passed around. It sounds like a good thing doesn’t it? Which is probably why it spread around, even if temporarily.

BTW - I never “assumed” St. Anne also HAD to be immaculately conceived for Mary to be so.
