Many of us may be singing this hymn today, Dec. 8:
Immaculate Mary, thy praises we sing;
Who reignest in splendor with Jesus our King.

We pray for God’s glory; may His kingdom come;
We pray for His vicar, our father, and Rome.

What a glorious Feast-Day to celebrate God’s Glory shining through Mary! Her Immaculate Conception is a privilege given her by the God of Mercy, Who loved us so much that He sent His Son born of a woman to redeem us. Mary’s words at the Annunciation of this great miracle of the Incarnation: “Behold the Handmaid of the Lord, be it done to me according to your word”. When Jesus told John and us “Behold your Mother”, I believe He wanted us all to remember her Immaculate beginning in God’s Plan and her cooperation with His Plan throughout her life.

Mary is our Mother and our Model. None of us was conceived immaculate nor remained sinless as she, but we have been Baptized into the Sinless Jesus and given the grace to grow in union with Him, as Mary grew. Let us begin today, as this new Year of Mercy begins, to open our hearts even as the Holy Doors are opened that God’s Mercy may pour through us to all.

This morning our priest boiled down his homily into this simple idea:

“The hope of pregnancy, is the hope of humanity”

I thought this was a really beautiful and snappy idea.

Thanks for your reply; may God increase your “Amen” to include every honorable mention of His Mother! May praise for His Work in her increase in the Church and in the world.

St. John Paul II to Servant of God Frank Duff, founder of the Legion of Mary: “Remember Victory will come through Mary”. Ah – the wisdom of the saints! 🙂

Thanks for your reply. An interesting comment from your priest this morning. Since God created us in His Image and Likeness and told us to be fruitful and multiply, it would seem true to say that humanity does keep hoping for new life. It is true that most persons will smile whenever they see a new baby.

On this Feast of the Immaculate Conception, I hope your priest also included some thoughts of God’s creation of Mary in her mother’s womb – Mary, sinless from the moment of her conception and sinless her entire life on this earth. When we behold our Mother Mary, we see in her a hope beyond herself, however. We see her “Yes” as only the beginning of the totally New Life in Jesus.

How perfect God’s Plan is!
 
Indeed, Hail Mary! I just finished my consecration(real beautiful) to Jesus through Mary by St. Montfort and during the communion God placed these words in my head and I just felt like sharing “Oh Mary Immaculate, take me on your arms and guide me to your son, Jesus!”. Hope you like it and Ave Maria!

Dear Aldebarans,

Thanks for your reply and for consecrating yourself to Jesus through Mary, according to the prayer of St. Louis de Montfort. I renewed my Consecration yesterday remembering my first consecration, years ago, grateful to the Dominican nun who invited us to consecrate ourselves as high school girls. By God’s Grace, I continue to appreciate its great value.

The words God gave you are important for they are His Truth. He wants us to rest in Mary’s arms as Jesus did. God sent His Son, born of a woman to like us in all things except sin. He invites us, through Mary, to become like Him.

“O Jesus, living in Mary, come and live in your servants, in the spirit of holiness, in the fullness of your power, in the perfection of your ways, in the truth of your virtues, in the communion of your mysteries. Rule over every adverse power, in your Spirit, for the glory of the Father. Amen.” — Prayer of Fr. Olier
