Your red flags are justified 100% based off of what you have told me. I would research the author and publisher further. I would also write to your Archdiocese and address your concerns with them.At my parish we are starting a new thing called the Immersed in Christ faith formation series. It is saying things like you don’t always have to follow the letter of the law. we are getting too legalistic in the church. The real red flag came when it mentions the “TRUE SPIRIT OF VATICAN II”. Context is very important…it is possible to misunderstand things at first glance…due to be being head shy from real problems with certain programs…and of course Pope Benedict XVI as Cardinal would be one to point out “the true spirit of Vatican II” as opposed to the false spirit which misunderstood the council…etc…so just cause it says this does not mean it is going contrary to the Church…for we do want the true spirit of Vatican II…the one that the Holy Spirit would approve of…At my parish we are starting a new thing called the Immersed in Christ faith formation series.
