In Christianity we obviously try to immitae Christ. However, immitate is not quite the right word. We don’t want to immitate Coca Cola but want it to be just as good.

I think it is very safe to say that “immitating” Christ is the best we could ever hope for in all that we do.

Should we try to immitate Mohhamed or is this something that should be avoided? (This has nothing to do with the Koran nor its circle reasoning and thus should really only concern Mohhamed himself)

Why would you want to immitate him? that’d be my first question (just to understand what you’re thinking of).

It wouldn’t be fair if I answered my own question just yet;) But its safe to say you probably know exactly what I’m thinking.👍

i *might *know what you’re thinking of but am *sure *of what Jesus says for He says " learn from Me"…Jesus is perfect so i try to immitate Him, i don’t accept any compromise.

It puzzles me to a certain extent why Muslims overlook Mohhammed and his vast shortcomings. It also worries me to a great extent that Mohhammed may be immitated as we attempt to immitate Christ. Obviously the two are nowhere near on the same plane of existence.

Do Muslims attempt to immiate Mohhamed as we attempt to immiate Jesus?

When one bases their whole existence upon the following of the perfect it can be quite sobering to think that there are people in this world who base their existence upon that which could be the polar opposite of perfection. If Muslims do attempt to immitate Mohhamed everything could be on the table and justified in very simple terms as we see with the justification of the Koran. The Koran may be very specific but the actions of Mohhamed can become much broader in terms of justification for almost any action.

Whether someone should imitate Mohammed depends on the person and to what extent. Muslims would obviously want to imitate Mohammed in every way, as they revere him as the greatest prophet and the only perfect human being.

Personally, I think there are better people out there to imitate than a man who inspired hate and bloodshed in his own lifetime and continue to do so through the religion he founded and the holy book he wrote.

that’s because they either do not see them as shortcomings, or they defend them by giving reasons…Muhammad was a prophet to them and hence anything he did must have been good…this is the starting point.

It is interesting that this understanding they share is contrary to the very essence of th ehuman condition. Its like trying to pu tyour brain in a peanut shell.
the Jesus we know does not exist in Islam. To know about Jesus’ teachings, Muslims must read the NT…the model they have is Muhammad since Quran says he is the role model to follow and mentions nothing of Jesus’ life or teachings… From a Christian point of view it’s absurd to have Jesus as a role model then regress but this is ok to Muslims it seems…maybe it has to do with Allah’s character, dunno.
It truly amazes me that even those who are well educated and have access to the information that has been shared on this forum seem to just gloss over the obvious failings of Islam. They are so intent of defending and attacking that they simply omit any reflection and contemplation. How sad.
yes, even more…they try to immitate what he wore, what he ate, how he sat, and some even dye their beards in the same colour used by Muhammad (red i guess)
I’m going to start the Jesus fashion line and a restaurant “The fish and loaves”. Who knows maybe it will catch on.😛
common sense not shared by others
. Its a lot like an elephant in the living room. We all see it but Muslims choose to pretend like it doesn’t exist and simply walk around it.

Isn’t that the purpose of the Sunnah or Hadith? For Muslims, Mohammed is the example to follow and it is described in the hadith. As scary as that might be, it is what they believe, as I understand it.

Sincerely,

De Maria

Muhammad led 27 military campaigns against innocent
villages and caravans & planned 38 others

“I am the prophet that laughs when killing my enemies.” (Hadith)

Christians & Jewish martyrs say; “I will die for what I believe”.
A Muslim martyr says; "you will die for what I believe

Listed above is the problem with following Mohammed

I saw a video years ago, of an Islamic preacher who illustrated the condemning Islamic view of those who believe God has a Son.
They believe that such an idea is an insult to God (Allah). He even went so far as to say that it is an insulting “animalistic” sexual thing to suggest that God had a Son.
And, when Christians find this out, it is so unbelievable.
Because, you know, that we believe that it was a miracle, that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and not of an “animalistic” sexual nature.
So, how many Muslims still believe that Christians believe that?
This is going to take a lot of patience and Bible doctrine to lay it all out plainly before Muslims.
I hope that this makes an impression, to say the least.

And, it should be noted that the Mormons believe (since 1827) that God the Father is a man, who came down to have sex with Mary for the conception of Jesus.
The Mormon Church is a cult, indeed.
Maybe, they are partly to blame.

I have asked a question about this post on another thread. That question is about the birth of Jesus being a miracle. Muslims do not believe that God had sex with Mary. Far from it, please. I was asking about the miracle, whose miracle it is, i.e. the birth of Jesus?? Is it the miracle of God?? or the holy spirit (another god)?? or Jesus?? or Mary?? PLEASE tell whose miracle it was. Thanks.

I understand that muslims do not believe God had sex with Mary. However, it is apparent that they have been told since the time of Muhammed that this is what Christians believe. How many muslims are still being given this misinformation?

We do believe that God the Father sent his Word (same God) to be incarnated as a human through the creative action of His Holy Spirit (again, same God). We do not understand the process, because we do not have a complete understanding of the infinite Creator, being finite & created beings ourselves.

That’s why we call it a miracle. If we knew HOW it was done, we wouldn’t call it that.

Hi

Kindly let us know what is the difference between a mystery and a myth and how would you diffrentiate a mystery from a myth?

Thanks

The miracle of God.

So please explain, why is Jesus of the Quran born without a father?

God is omnipresent. We all say it yet no one knows how can He be omnipresent. This is mystery.

If you see any link with this mystery and myth, please let me know.

The same way you should.

A myth is a story sometimes based on fact, sometimes not.
For instance, the story of Genesis is considered a myth based on fact. It expresses truth in a simplistic way which is easier to understand.

A fictional myth, is a story which has been passed down for many years but for which there is no evidence of fact. Such as the myths of the Norse Gods.

A mystery and in this case we are speaking of mysteries of God, is a truth which our minds can’t understand. For instance, the truth of the Incarnation is a mystery which we can’t understand but we can’t deny because Jesus proved His Divinity.

Now let us look at Islam, is it a myth or a mystery that Mohammed saw an angel?

It would appear to be a myth based on fiction since no evidence exists to support the idea.

Sincerely,

De Maria

Hi

I would like to ask my friend as to how many mysteries are there in the Catholicism, which have been officially accepted as such? I understand that there are mysteries which have been accepted as such after many centuries of the event of Crucifixion. So the process is still contining or it has been completed and finalised.

Thanks

There are many. But you can start with the Seven Mysteries, otherwise known as the Seven Sacraments.

Baptism
Confirmation
Confession
Eucharist
Matrimony
Holy Orders
Unction

If Mohamed led me to Jesus, then I could imitate him. As Catholics, we learned from many Saints who imitated Jesus.
