Hi! I occasionally listen to other Christian radio stations, and recently came across a 7th Day Adventist radio station. Knowing that they are quite anti Catholic (they teach that the Pope is the antichrist), I know to take what they say a lot of times with a grain of salt so to speak. Yesterday they mentioned how we have the belief that we are immortal and that our soul separates at death etc. They quoted some scripture “proving” our belief is unbiblical. Just curious as to the scriptural basis for the Catholic belief - I would like to know so I can better defend the Catholic faith and have a deeper understanding as to why we believe what we believe. Sorry, I was driving so I didn’t get a chance to note the scripture verses but they pretty much said during the final resurrection is when we will get out immortality.,

If the very biblical concept of hell is true, that in itself proves that we were made to exist eternally.

1 Cor 15:
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall rise again incorruptible: and we shall be changed.

1 Thes 4:
15 For the Lord himself shall come down from heaven with commandment, and with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead who are in Christ, shall rise first. 16 Then we who are alive, who are left, shall be taken up together with them in the clouds to meet Christ, into the air, and so shall we be always with the Lord. 17 Wherefore, comfort ye one another with these words.
