I am counting down the days until Christmas because that is when I am going to order the beautiful Medusa necklace that I saw, when I think about wearing it with a white silk shirt and white jeans and fake sand coloured ugg boots I feel so happy and amazed by how fantastic it will be. When men see me wearing it they will want to be with me I don’t want to be with them but my point is that people will be so amazed and shocked by my beauty that they will be inspired for weeks afterwards. Right now I just want to hide in a corner and be left alone until Christmas, yeah I know it sounds like I have no life but you know that very little things make me feel happy and passionate in this life

I mean I have friends and hobbies and I engage in these things regularly however I feel indifferent to them, I have touched on the fact in other threads that I am depressed and feel disinterested and indifferent towards most things, I’m not sure if I’m depressed because I’m disinterested or if I’m disinterested because I’m depressed. Most likely the latter because it can be chemicals in my brain. I have a LOT of hobbies and many social opportunities but nothing really makes me feel particularly good. Relationships used to make me feel good but as you know I quit relationships for good, I’m voluntarily celibate for life now.

Okay yeah comment people I have no one to talk to about what I want to talk about in daily life, people usually shut me down when I talk about fashion

There are quite a few Medusa necklaces. Which one are you looking forward too? And why fake Ugg boots? In Australia we always buy the real ones. Gold with white clothes always looks stylish, I feel.

Thank you so much for your interested comment Petaro I like this one

I buy fake Uggs because I don’t use animal products but I can definitely empathise that the real ones are comfy so you live in Australia that’s awesome!

I’m so pleased that you agree about the white and gold going together

I’m actually buying this shirt us.versace.com/Wrap-style-%22Edera-Barocco%22-Top/A66155-A213716,en_US,pd.html&cgid=120200#!%3Fprefn1%3Dsale%26prefv1%3Dfalse%26i%3D2%26color%3DA7008 it has a small medusa head on the back of it, I had to look 10 times before I noticed that sneaky thing

For the price that one with five charms seems a good deal. I love the top, but I think I would prefer the silk shirt, just for the feel, but it is a little stern.

Doglover, are you familiar with the Baltimore Catechism? Question 6 is “Why did God make you?”

A. God made me to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him in this world, and to be happy with Him for ever in heaven.

As long as you are not fulfilling your purpose as a created being and child of God, nothing will fill the hole inside of you–not fashion or things; not ambition or success; not even family or relationships. Read Ecclesiastes and see the vanity of trusting in anything but God, of trying to make happiness your life’s goal.

I am sorry if this comes off preachy. I am a sinner by nature, no better than any other sinner, but I have known the marvelous light of God’s grace and am so thankful for it. To know the love of Christ is so much better than anything else. It really is sweet and beautiful, and it lasts forever–unlike the things of this world.

There is nothing wrong with fashion, of course! But neither it, nor earthly beauty, nor earthly love should ever usurp the place of God in our hearts.

Hi Joie, hahah 😃

Petaro, oh yeah I agree the necklace goes best with a plain colour shirt, I will wear it with a white shirt when I get it.

Heidi you’re 100% right about everything you say. I don’t know if you had the chance to read my other posts, it’s a lot of threads here, I’m quite depressed and fashion is the only thing that makes me feel not depressed so I like to talk about it, I am desperate

I like the necklace, it is quite a statement piece. I’ve been in a fashion rut lately, I very rarely buy clothes since my lifestyle doesn’t really require much. Jewellery is always such a pick me up and can make even the most plain clothing look cool and interesting.

Why did it take so long for a thread entitled “Impatience” to load on my screen? 😃

Yes Contra it is a piece that would be a good conversation starter. Haha what do you mean your life style does not require clothes??? 😃 😃 😃 I’m glad that for you too jewelry is a pick me up ))))

If someone amazes me or shocks me with their looks to the point that I still think of it weeks afterwards, it’s safe to say that they didn’t amaze me in a good way.

You are not talking about fashion. You are talking about manipulating people’s emotions by the use of fashion. Why would you want to make someone obsess about you? When you want to make someone be with you in the knowledge that you intend to reject them all, that is manipulative, self-centered, and a bit cruel when you think about it.

If you dress not to give other people pleasure but to make yourself the center of attention and to put yourself “one up” on the people looking at you, you are misusing fashion. If you dress with modest intentions, you will not be any more pleased to think of someone looking at your beauty than you would be pleased to think of any other woman giving the same innocent pleasure to those around her. If you are competitive and want the attention for yourself at the expense of other women, that is vanity. Reject that temptation, it is an enemy of true and healthy relationships.

Screwtape Letters, #14

…there are other profitable ways of fixing his attention on the virtue of Humility. By this virtue, as by all the others, our Enemy wants to turn the man’s attention away from self to Him, and to the man’s neighbours. All the abjection and self-hatred are designed, in the long run, solely for this end; unless they attain this end they do us little harm; and they may even do us good if they keep the man concerned with himself, and, above all, if self-contempt can be made the starting-point for contempt of other selves, and thus for gloom, cynicism, and cruelty.

You must therefore conceal from the patient the true end of Humility. Let him think of it not as self-forgetfulness but as a certain kind of opinion (namely, a low opinion) of his own talents and character. Some talents, I gather, he really has. Fix in his mind the idea that humility consists in trying to believe those talents to be less valuable than he believes them to be. No doubt they are in fact less valuable than he believes, but that is not the point. The great thing is to make him value an opinion for some quality other than truth, thus introducing an element of dishonesty and make-believe into the heart of what otherwise threatens to become a virtue. By this method thousands of humans have been brought to think that humility means pretty women trying to believe they are ugly and clever men trying to believe they are fools. And since what they are trying to believe may, in some cases, be manifest nonsense, they cannot succeed in believing it and we have the chance of keeping their minds endlessly revolving on themselves in an effort to achieve the impossible. To anticipate the Enemy’s strategy, we must consider His aims. The Enemy wants to bring the man to a state of mind in which he could design the best cathedral in the world, and know it to be the best, and rejoice in the, fact, without being any more (or less) or otherwise glad at having done it than he would be if it had been done by another. The Enemy wants him, in the end, to be so free from any bias in his own favour that he can rejoice in his own talents as frankly and gratefully as in his neighbour’s talents - or in a sunrise, an elephant, or a waterfall. He wants each man, in the long run, to be able to recognise all creatures (even himself) as glorious and excellent things. He wants to kill their animal self-love as soon as possible; but it is His long-term policy, I fear, to restore to them a new kind of self-love - a charity and gratitude for all selves, including their own; when they have really learned to love their neighbours as themselves, they will be allowed to love themselves as their neighbours. For we must never forget what is the most repellent and inexplicable trait in our Enemy; He really loves the hairless bipeds He has created and always gives back to them with His right hand what He has taken away with His left.

His whole effort, therefore, will be to get the man’s mind off the subject of his own value altogether. He would rather the man thought himself a great architect or a great poet and then forgot about it, than that he should spend much time and pains trying to think himself a bad one. Your efforts to instill either vainglory or false modesty into the patient will therefore be met from the Enemy’s side with the obvious reminder that a man is not usually called upon to have an opinion of his own talents at all, since he can very well go on improving them to the best of his ability without deciding on his own precise niche in the temple of Fame. You must try to exclude this reminder from the patient’s consciousness at all costs. The Enemy will also try to render real in the patient’s mind a doctrine which they all profess but find it difficult to bring home to their feelings - the doctrine that they did not create themselves, that their talents were given them, and that they might as well be proud of the colour of their hair. But always and by all methods the Enemy’s aim will be to get the patient’s mind off such questions, and yours will be to fix it on them. Even of his sins the Enemy does not want him to think too much: once they are repented, the sooner the man turns his attention outward, the better the Enemy is pleased, Your affectionate uncle

You have to either laugh or cry, bless her heart, don’t you? I don’t think there is anything in that oh-so-particular shop that wouldn’t sell a bag to Oprah Winfrey that will accomplish what the OP wants. 😉

Oh no Easter my goal is not to make people want me, it’s just my way of describing how beautiful that necklace will look. Yes I would turn people down as I don’t wish for a relationship but I’m just expressing how beautiful the necklace will surely look. Not that people are actually going to randomly ask me out after seeing the necklace anyways hehe.

I feel like the Medusa emblem is pretty popular. I googled it and noticed that Nicki Minaj has the same necklace I like, Rihanna and Miley Cyrus are wearing different versions of it, today I just saw Khloe Kardashian in a Daily Mail article wearing a Versace t-shirt with the Medusa logo.

It is ironic that you chose Medusa as your charm.

In Greek mythology, Medusa was a mortal daughter of Gaea (Earth) and Oceanus (Ocean). She was very beautiful, with golden hair and lovely blue eyes. She became a priestess to Athena, which meant she vowed herself to celibacy in order to serve the goddess. Ah, but Medusa fell in love with Poseidon, and because of her beauty, he fell in love with her. She forgot her vows to Athena, and married him, instead. Athena did not take this well, and punished Medusa in a terrible manner. Her beautiful hair was turned into venomous snakes, her lovely eyes became blood-shot and furious, and her milky skin became a loathsome, sickly green. Mortified, she fled her home and wandered the world, where she was feared and hated by all who looked upon her. Not only was she repulsive to look at, but by the curse of Athena she turned every person who looked at her into stone. She fled to Africa, wandering from place to place, and the baby snakes that dropped from her head are said by the ancients to be the source of the deadly snakes there. Her life was a horrible misery. She lived with her sisters (the three were called the Gorgons) until Perseus, with the help of Hermes and Athena, finally killed her.

Do you see what an awful story is behind that charm? Even to the Greeks, the story of Medusa is not a celebration of glamorous beauty, but a warning about it.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, so they say. The necklace, not my style - I don’t wear jewelry at all. I can think of many other ways to spend that kind of money.

You literally want to buy an idol of a supernatural being of another religion to make you happy?

And the idol is medusa? And the story of her vanity and punishment? And you want people to envy you for it?

How in the world can this be healthy for you?

Hi Easter, ah that’s interesting. I thought Poseidon raped Medusa, I guess there are several versions of the story. Yeah it is ironic that I think the necklace is so beautiful hehe.

Sunbreak, thank you for your (name removed by moderator)ut even if it’s not your style 🙂 What kind of jewelry do you like and how would you spend that money? Haha curious.

Hoosier, I don’t believe in Greek gods 😃 It just looks reaaaallly cool and gorgeous xD I know people will think I’m beautiful. People sometimes do tell me they wish they had my makeup and etc, I"d be happy to loan it to them if they lived near me…Anyways yesterday I was at an outing and they took a picture which is great because now I can admire my beauty without having to stand in the bathroom looking at the mirror all the time haha

/QUOTE]

Her post says she doesn’t wear jewlery.

I think the cost of the necklace and shirt together, totaling to $1450.00 USD, could be wiser spent. Hahaha:rolleyes:
