Does the discovery of the God Particle prove the existence of God?

I would say not God as God has traditionally been understood, in the sense of a personal being that transcends nature.

For those who don’t know, the Higgs got its “god” nickname from the title of a book, nothing more, nothing to do with theology or God.

Technically CERN have only made a preliminary announcement: Geneva, 4 July 2012. At a seminar held at CERN today as a curtain raiser to the year’s major particle physics conference, ICHEP2012 in Melbourne, the ATLAS and CMS experiments presented their latest preliminary results in the search for the long sought Higgs particle. Both experiments observe a new particle in the mass region around 125-126 GeV. - press.web.cern.ch/press/PressReleases/Releases2012/PR17.12E.html

Will people stop taking my original posting seriously!
It’s a mistake to take any post on CAF seriously.

A neutron walks into a bar and asks, “How much for a beer?” The bartender says, “For you? No charge.”

Two sodium atoms are in a bar chatting when one turns to the other looking worried: “Oh, no… I think I’ve lost an electron!” The other says “Are you sure?” The first replies “Yes, I’m positive…”

A neutrino walks into a bar and says “Una cerveza, por favor”. Bartender says “No mas”. Neutrino replies: “Si, si – un poco”.

No, we know God exists by Faith, which is a gift from God. 🙂 Smile God loves you. 😃
Far be it from a solipsist to question biblical interpretation, but isn’t that a misinterpretation of Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” I’m no Greek scholar, but I do believe that the proper interpretation of this verse is that it is “grace” that is being referred to as a gift from God, not faith. But like I say, what do I know.

🙂 🤷 🙂

Sair:

But it might; you are only speculating, which, of course, so am I. 😉

Inocente:

Thanks for this post. Very important information for the under-initiated. 👍

Did all of these really happen? 😃

Part:

You are partially correct. It is precisely grace that imparts that species we call “faith.” You won’t have Faith without God’s Grace, thus it is dependent on it.

Not bad, for a meager solipsist, though! 👍

Of course it does. Now the physicists have to find out which god. YHWH, Allah, Durga, Thor, etc.

Should keep them busy for some time. There are a lot of gods out there.

A fermion walks into a bar and orders a drink. Shortly afterwards the fermion’s identical twin walks in. The barman, whose name is Pauli, turns to the second fermion and says, “You’re excluded.”

A tachyon walks into a bar. The bartender says “We don’t serve your kind here.” The tachyon replies “You did tomorrow".

And then there’s the one about the sign on nuclear physicist’s door that read, ‘Gone fission.’
