Hello, I’m just wondering, does a book that is a 2nd edition and a reprint of an older book need its own Imprimatur? What about books that reprint an Imprimatur? This book was published in the same diocese… Thanks!

Most books I have, like reprints of old books, reprint Imprimaturs… How does this relate to the Canon which says each new edition needs a new Imprimatur? Can we keep such books? Most works are like this though that come from authors from long ago…

It depends if there are changes in the text – then it would need a new imprimatur. If it’s just a reprinting of the same edition, to my knowledge, it does not.

Thanks for the reply! That would be a solution… I’m hoping to ask my priest…
