Whenever I go to confess the sin of mastur…I have always said did impure acts with myself and have never used the m word…but now im kinda unsure…so does impure acts with myself equal the m word?.

I’d say masturbation is an impure act with ones self but why not just say it?
You seem shy to even type the word masturbation, the priest has heard it all before.

It can be tricky to get the right balance at confession. I was much too detailed when I was young then I became a bit to broad. I could describe all my sins in just a handful of adjectives. Now I’ve got it right i think. For my sexual sins I would usually say masturbation, fornication, lustful thoughts and desires.

The term “self abuse” is what was in the Baltimore Catechism. So how you describe it is fine.
