No, put simply, but what exactly were you thinking of when you asked?

Brock, Brock, Brock – Do you, in your heart, think that uttering “something sexual” will always, always consign you to hell?!?

No, it will not, and have faith in a loving Gog who is most assuredly not looking to pack you off to hell at the slip of an impure statement.

You know, I think it would depend on what is said and to whom it is said and with the intention behind it. Sexual remarks with the intention to do harm, intimidate or humiliate could be a mortal sin. “Run of the mill” impure language probably would not get you a one way ticket to Coal Town, but is generally rude and without merit as is cursing. That is my opinion.😦

If it’s lustful and or trying to lead another to sexual sin than that is of grave matter. If you’re just making a stupid joke, than no, but try and be careful who you do tell such jokes to and be sure there are no children around to hear you.

Thanks for the response. I really don’t remember the details. It was very early in the morning and I was running on very, very little sleep, so I don’t think I really was thinking straight when I said what I said. I don’t remember the details or the moment very well.

Deliberately seducing somebody towards impure actions or impure thoughts could easily be mortal.

Foul language slipping off the tongue needs to be carefully guarded. It’s almost universally agreed to not be mortal, but it’s still enormously beneficial to mention this in weekly Confession if you want the fast track to killing this habit. If you’re brashly aggressive enough in tackling down his habit you’d be surprised how quickly you can drop it. You enter into a state of mind where the law of God is perpetually hovering on the backburner of your brain, and as soon as you’re about to say something you shouldn’t, a bell goes off.

👍 I’m glad to see that someone here agrees with me about sin. Day after day I see posts asking “Did I Sin???” Good grief, guys, try to stop wasting time in our short lives obsessing over SIN! There are so many better ways to spend our time, like enjoying the wonderful world God has given us!

Desiring to be in friendship with God is a very noble pursuit (the only noble pursuit there is, actually) and it is good for people to have questions about these things. This is how we fine tune our conscience, so that we avoid scruples and presumption, the later of which is exceedingly worse.
