Dear catholiccraig.

First of all. Dont listen to the ones on this forum who like to place the blame on the young woman only, and say you should find someone who shares your values.
It is evident that you are equals in this. You however are the man and as such sould be the protector of the woman. And since you have a deeper relationship with Christ you also have more responsibility than she does because her mind might be more blurred.

Look brother…
I have been exactly where you are right now. I was in a relationship like that half a year ago and it disturbed and messed up my life and brought grief into it that you would find hard to fathom.
I was a very serious Catholic who did not think I was capable of falling into this sin… of all sins. I thought I was in control, even if I went into “dangerous situations”. and the man I was with… oh a good Christian too, but a weak person as it turned out.
I do not blame him… we were in it together. But I tell you: what started out as a brother and sister where he would only kiss my forehead because he did not find it appropriate to kiss on the mouth ended in… me loosing my virginity the last time we were together… and me being a depressed broken soul for 5 months.

I was helped by the pureloveclub.com to realise that my life is not over after all. I have a still got a chance of doing something right with mr. right when he comes along.
Please please understand that the innocense you are playing with can be so easily lost and only be given once.

My wisdom for the future: I wish I had stopped at any point leading to destruction… any point at all.
But satan never tires…

You gotta stand up for yourself and this young woman and for your future bride, whomever she may be
TOGETHER WITH CHRIST - AGAINST THE DEVIL.

This changed my own life… wish I had heard it just a few months before I so severely messed up.

Well, yes, he is obviously culpable for his own role in the situation. I would not suggest otherwise.

The emphasis which a lot of people are making here on finding a Catholic girl who has strong Catholic values is important, though. It is being offered not with the intent of attacking the OP’s girlfriend, but rather of encouraging him to seek out a relationship which will strengthen his faith. We also want to encourage him to think ahead as to the concerns of marriage.

None of that absolves him from his own wrongdoing. But the relationship he is in does sound like one which is harmful to him - and to her.

I’d like to add that Catholic girls are not the only ones who “GET IT.”

Many of the best Catholics are converts. She must convert because she loves Catholicism and you, not because she wants to get married.

Good ! Souls are lost by licentiousness.

Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.

Thanks everyone. I plan on confession tomorrow and I’ll try and steer clear of doing it again.
You would be better off steering clear of HER.:o Just my two cents. This isn’t a long standing relationship–you are with someone who will continue to test your faith…and put you in tempting positions. If you choose to remain with her–please consider telling her your position about chastity…if she rolls her eyes, doesn’t understand, or battles you–I’d put on a good pair of Nikes and run as fast as you can out of that situation. There’s plenty of chaste fish in the sea. 😉 I’ll keep you in my prayers…

It has been revealed that "more souls are lost through sins of the flesh than any other sin."

I don’t doubt it.:o

I agree with others–both the OP and the girl are culpable, but it’s better to flee from a situation that causes you temptation…rather than stick around. Three weeks…is not a relationship…I would discuss the chastity issue with her, and as I said above–if she refutes it–move on…AND QUICKLY.😉
