Well, I don’t know about that. It seems to me that the Church was always quite anti-Communist. One of the Popes, Pius XI, in 1931 made the statement that “no one can at the same time be a sincere Catholic and a true socialist.”

However, in the early part of the 20th century there was a fascination with communism and socialism within many levels of society. Many U.S. intellectuals were making trips to Soviet Russia and giving praise to Stalin’s rule. What were they thinking? I have no idea why so many became so infatuated with such an evil system.
that’s not what i or the book meant.
they, the communists, infiltrated the church on the sly. they pretended to be perfect seminarians, priests, and/or professors on the surface, but they had an agenda. of course the church wouldn’t just let them in and do as they please. their aim was to take over the church one rogue priest at a time, and then slowly change it over time.

I have heard of this theory. Who writes this book? Is it credible?
Don’t want to sound confrontational…just trying to get some more info.

credible… there are a number of threads here about the book. some say it is totally false, especially since TAN books published it  it does say that it is dramatized. the “author” of the book is marie carre’, but it is largely written by the communist seminarian/priest. marie is the nurse who cared for the priest in the hospital after his car accident, which he died from. the memoirs were originally published in 1972. the “ideas” for bringing down the church in this book are alarming, because we are seeing so many of them today. reading the publisher’s note on this book there is no way to prove that is it true or false, but just reading thru the whole book i believe it!

“You shall know them by their fruits”. I think this might apply here eh? 😉 I am going to get the book. Thanks.

Holy Mother Church guides us with certainty that all sexual acts of humans–beings with immortal souls in God’s image and likeness–must be unitive and open to being Pro-Creative. Such sexual acts are properly ordered to their end as created by the Creator. Natural Family Planning is thusly 100% effective in bringing about the will of God.

The implication is that that only happened in the Baltimore diocese.

The Canadian Bishop’s response to HV was the “Winnipeg Statement” which to this day has not be rescinded. So to this day priests are telling their parishioners that ABC is up to the individual conscience. And permanent sterilization was done routinely in Catholic hospitals with clergy approval.

That has been my experience from the time of my university days to the present. I did what I was taught was OK.

This is so true and important.
When I realized that I had traveled down a dead end road I wanted to blame someone - priests! Ultimately I had only myself to blame. Sure - in the 70’s and 80’s I didn’t understand Humanae Vitae but I knew of it and what it simply stated! Don’t do birth control! I rode the crest of evil during the 60’s 70’s and 80’s. It was only in the 90’s that I realized I should have simply obeyed that basic premise behind Humanae Vitae even though I didn’t understand why I should obey. Sure - there wasn’t single person around to spoon feed me ( priests preaching from the pulpit) the understanding of Humanae Vitae. I still should have obeyed.
Today I am a little wiser. I’m just sorry I didn’t simply obey to begin with. Hopefully I’ve learned an important lesson.
Obey - even if I don’t fully grasp what the Church asks me to do.
Yes - we are all on the journey of conversion. No one of us is better than the next.

Pope JPII’s Theology of the Body is the best tool to date to better understand Humanae Vitae.
I think this is a good example of how many people reacted to the sexual revolution. But there is one more thing. The people who made the Pill, IUDs and other birth control devices. How many would they have sold if Catholics had remained faithful and obeyed Humanae Vitae? How many fewer abortions might there have been? It was very important to raise a loud and open voice of approval in society for lots of sex and little responsibility.

Catholics were lied to. Our consent was engineered. The loud and angry radicals kept yelling It’s OK!

I’m not better than the next, but we all must try and continue walking toward the Lord, not away from Him.

God bless,
Ed
