Some of my Catholic friends and relatives will say that a person who has died is in a better place. Assuming they are right that the Catholic version of God is real, as a Catholic should they say this? Aren’t they assuming that they know the judgment of God in regard to this person? Is it considered a sin to assume they know this person ended up in Heaven instead of Hell?

Freind…

Jesus took away the Sin of the whole world on the Cross at Calvary… when you die you are not aware of it, the dead know nothing including that they have died.

They sleep the sleep of Death, until the ressurections begin… and there is no Hell, there never was it was a mistranslation of Sheol the place of the dead.

You must be kidding me. Would you care explain why there is no Hell? why the dead don’t know they have died.

Well, not everybody ends up in Heaven; however, there are certain people we know for sure they are in Heaven. In Catholics, we have canonized Saints who were recognized by their intercessions for our prayers (miracles, etc…) and how they lived their lives on Earth. The rest of other souls, we just pray for them.

Now, there is nothing wrong to pray for those who passed away. After all, we don’t know for sure if they go to Hell. At the last minute of dying, a person can convert by grace of God.

About Hell - you better believe there is Hell.
About the Dead - their bodies are gone, but their souls are there alive – wherever they are.

It would be a sin for a private person to assume with absolute certainty that a person who has died is either in Heaven or Hell… One can or should hope that their loved one is with Christ in Eternal Life.

What a load of garbage. Where did you dream up this nonsense??

You will find about 25 versus in the Bible about how the dead know nothing, Must I refer you to all of them…? surely you read the Bible at some stage… Or is the word of God dead to you ?

You list your religion as “early church”. I’d suggest reading Augustine’s City of God to learn what the early church taught about hell.
