hey all. i recently got laid off from an internship (long story…i was mainly inexpereinced and didn’'t understand their goals.
So i’m left again wondering if God has a plan for me when all i feel is despair, pain, and darkness. i’m just really tired of having to wait and wait for my life to progress but i’m stuck in a rut.

any suggestions? thanks george.

When one door closes another one opens… Maybe it wasnt’ a good fit for you, what have you learned from the experience? Maybe take that to help you in a new start…

God has a plan, but we have to keep moving and keep hope…

Go fishing.

I find getting outside helps. I like fishing. Plus you can get in some prayer time that way and mull things over. Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance. Maybe talk to your priest. Spend some time at adoration.

These things certainly do happen. What’s important is that you continue to allow our Lord (and His Church) to fill your heart with joy and consolation to replace the sorrow and desolation you are currently feeling.

I know it sucks being denied, in any sense of the word; but things really do get better.👍

Step out of the rut. I know, easy to say, harder to do. If you have been seeking the same work or career over several years, and it just does not pan out, it may be time to set that aside and check into something else. Maybe it is time to move to another city or state. Maybe it is time to check into missionary work someplace. It is called taking a leap of faith.

If everything is stagnant where you are it may be time to simply change some things like the job or where you live and a job. You never know what is out there. And don’t be surprised if while searching for one thing a totally new and different opportunity jumps out to greet you. Now that could be where God is trying to get you to head, but yo won’t know if you don’t move. (I mean move either literally, or figuratively, depending on your circumstances.) You could just need to change Parishes.

Step outside the box you are in and see what else there is to investigate.

Some great advice here …
I will add a prayer for you.

Hail Mary,
Full of grace,
The Lord is with Thee.
Blessed art Thou amoungst women,
And blessed is the fruit of Thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of our death,
Amen

it just feels that i’m only living for the next “high”/drunkeness from the everyday bitterness of everyday life…i just wish it gets better without trying to make stuff happen so much.

Assuming you were born in '92 per your SN we are the same age. I am also struggling finding meaningful employment and educational opportunities. So no solutions here either but letting you know someone like you is in a similar place.
