Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We proceed to the second mark of “true” devotion to Mary, as St. Louis describes “Trustful” in his treatise on “True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin.”
  1. Second, it is trustful, that is to say, it fills us with confidence in the Blessed Virgin, the confidence that a child has for its loving Mother. It prompts us to go to her in every need of body and soul with great simplicity, trust and affection. We implore our Mother’s help always, everywhere, and for everything. We pray to her to be enlightened in our doubts, to be put back on the right path when we go astray, to be protected when we are tempted, to be strengthened when we are weakening, to be lifted up when we fall into sin, to be encouraged when we are losing heart, to be rid of our scruples, to be consoled in the trials, crosses and disappointments of life. Finally, in all our afflictions of body and soul, we naturally turn to Mary for help, with never a fear of importuning her or displeasing our Lord.
As we ponder each explanation of the 5 marks of “true” devotion. it becomes clear that they are all connected and work together to keep us from being ensnared by any of the 7 “false” devotions, St. Louis described in previous paragraphs.

Come Holy Spirit, kindle in us the Fire of Your Love and Your Truth. Jesus we trust in You! Mary, Mother and Model of the Church, pray for us.

Dear Stephie,

Thanks for your “heart” letting us know that you are continuing to read St. Louis De Montfort’s words In his “True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin” and are listening to hear God’s Truth in them, so you can continue to ponder all God says — even as Mary pondered all in her heart. It became clearer to me in pondering these five Marks of “true devotion” how they all work together. For instance in the first mark, “interior” we begin to “see” how that leads us to the second, “trustful” as we learn even as Jesus learned in His Human Nature to trust His Mother. God works within us teaching us as He taught Mary to trust Him. Today we look at the 3rd mark of “true” devotion; which I’ll post after this one. 🙂

Thank you for your posts. I try to read all of them. Been rather busy, so often I do not get a chance to reply, but it gives me a chance to contemplate during that day.

Blessings,
