I can empathize well with the situation with your parents. Mine are very much against my vocation. My stepfather is fiercely anti-Catholic and my mother laughs at me. But It is important that you pray for them regularly.
You probably will not need one of them to accompany you to Chicago. I will be going by myself in September. I’ll be taking a bus rather then flying in- less expensive and I wont need a passport. Perhaps you could do the same, or maybe take a train. Although there is always a chance that Monsignor might be in your region at some point, so you might be able to speak with him then- do you live near any of the Institute’s Apostolates?
